    Wow...so impressed! (GTS content)

Yesterday I attended a Porsche Track Experience event at Leipzig, which was organized by my dealership. We were staying for two nights in the hotel "The Westin" in Leipzig. This hotel has a Two-Michelin-starred restaurant on the 27th floor called "Falco". The food and wine were truely sublime and I highly recommend the hotel.

But what was even more outstanding, was the driving experience in the 911 GTS.

We were divided into 3 groups with 4 cars each. All were "2-GTS" cars (not all-wheel-drives) of the newest generation, fully optioned. We had plenty of seat time during the whole day and at the end, I was very tired but totally blown away. That GTS...what a car! It's the perfect 911 with the widest range of useability (if that makes sense). In german it would be called an "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" (google it Smiley). It's really really quick, and it has tremendous grip through the corners, even on street tires. We drove the cars like mad throughout the whole afternoon, lap after lap, and they still held up without a sweat. It was fantastic. The sound of the GTS was very good IMO. Obviously it's not as nice as a N/A engine. For example, the instructor's GT3 totally outplayed all four GTS' that were following it at full throttle, but the exhaust note of the GTS is still loud, sporty and to be honest, more than enough. I was pleasantly surprised. I found the steering much easier going than in my GT3, and also the brakes didn't feel as if they had the same bite. But other than that, I can't flaw the GTS, it would be my 911 of choice, if I had to pick another one. The power is almost instant, I couldn't feel any turbo lag and if there was, it was barely noticeable. And the car pulls very strongly when you give it full beans, it really goes. My GTS had full carbon trim, also the steering wheel, which I didn't like at all. It was a very hot day, 30 degrees (and yet the turbos were pulling strongly) and the carbon on the steering wheel got very hot, and also slippery once my hands started to get a little sweaty...like when I missed a braking point before Mobil 1 S curve Smiley By the way, that Laguna Seca cork-screw section is a blast, so much fun. The whole circuit is, in fact. Very technical. At the dinner in the evening, someone, who had just taken delivery of his GTS, told me that there is also a button that gives you a boost for 20 seconds... too bad I didn't know about it on the circuit. It must be like having DRS like in Formula 1. Smiley Now I really envy everyone that has one in the garage. Bravo guys Smiley

However, best part of the day was of course the pax lap with our instructor in the GT3. Simply AMAZING! Smiley

    +1

I could have written that Smiley It is by far the most versatile 911 I have owned.

Regarding the Sport Response Button. I first thought of the button as a gimmick, but it turned out to be very useful when cruising along in Normal mode and wanting to overtake. Not that the car is short on power in Normal mode, but one press on the button and the car is prepared for launch. I don't know about the technical details, but it does feel like it puts the car in Sport Plus mode with overboost for 20 seconds.

A complete sportscar for the real world for 125.000 EUR. Amazing ability and value!

Unless you are a billionaire, why burn money on cars that could only be utilized on specific tracks and airstrips

Haha yes Smiley but I didn't get to see my GT3 until the next day, so the instructor's GT3 had to do it Smiley We visited the factory the next morning. It's much more modern and newer than Zuffenhausen, and far bigger. They're producing 600 cars in Leipzig while 230 in Zuffenhausen. The production of the new Cayenne has been moved to Bratislava. I saw the new facelifted Macan Smiley Subtle improvements but I'm sure it will be a hit again.

Here's a photo I took for you Smiley

Forgot about that 'Sport Response' button too when I had one for an afternoon. Didn't make any use of it at the winter training in Finland either... Great car imo.
