    Electronic Hatch Lock

Is it possible to retrofit an electronic hatch lock? I'm tired of slamming it closed everytime.

    Thanks

I'm trying to find this out too because I'm tired too of slamming it closed all the time and if I don't do it with full force, it stays partially open. And what is even worse: it looks like it is closed and when you go back to drive the truck, the light flashes up in the speedo cluster and you have to go back and try again.
The electric hatch lock should have been standard from the beginning and I should have listened to my dealer, he recommended ordering the whole package incl. this lock but I didn't want to pay for something I didn't need (garage opener, etc.).

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

    RC, I couldn't agree more.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I believe it is now standard on the 2005.

BTW, my hatch latch has now failed three times (hatch will not open). I hope the most recent repair lasts.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

RC: does it mean that if I have the garage opener, I should have the electronic hatch lock? Please let me know!! thanks

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

    Deetz

Do you have to slam you rear hatch to shut it or does it close and lock when you put it down with normal effort?

If you have to SLAM it then you don't have the Electronic Locking.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I have to slam it but why did RC say something about the garage opener package? because I have that...

As far as I remember, the US has a different package without the electric hatch lock. But maybe somebody knows more...

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I will find out about it tomorrow guys. I will go to a much better dealer tomorrow morning. They need to fix my doors, the other dealer was not good enough

I will find out more about it ^^

in US, that's the PD4 Elctric Comfort Package. it includes
Integrated garage door opener, selfdimming interior and exterior mirrors, electronic rear door closing, dimmer controlled interior lighting, and programmable homecoming illumination.

Some packages are different but I think this one might have been the same everywhere. In the US, option code PD3 was the Electric Comfort Package which included the power latch, garage door opener, auto dimming mirrors and dimming interior lights. The power closer was only available with this option so if you have the garage door opener, you have the power closer.

The power closer makes a slight whirring sound when the hatch is closed, which the standard hatch latch does not. Even with the power closer you may have to shut the hatch hard for it to close. Mine was that way when I bought it and had to be adjusted.

For 2005 the power closer and garage door opener will be standard equipment in the US, at least for the S and Turbo. I am not sure about the base Cayenne or what might be standard for the ROW versions.

Right. PD4 was the code if you ordered the Electric Comfort Package along with Comfort or Sport seats. Either way, PD3 or PD4, the Electric Comfort Package had the same combination of options for 2003/2004 and they were not available separately.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

not possible to retrofit. The guy said that there is no option that is retrofitable due to the wiring. Porsche simply said "NO".

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

    RC,

I don't know if this will help any, but leave one of your windows open by just a bit. My experience is that this allows you to use less force to close the rear hatch. The cars are tight and the air needs somewhere to go to so it doesn't "push" back on the hatch.

    Stephen,

In some parts of the world that really could be a solution to the rear hatch problem.

If you leave a window even only slightly open, you could come back later to find no hatch, no car, no problem!

    Well, maybe a different problem.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I should have been watching out for you Fritz !!

If you intend to drive after closing the hatch you simply hold the appropriate toggle in the "raise" posistion until the window is closed or; put the key in the lock on the driver's door, turn it clockwise (to the right) and hold it until the windows are all closed. Using the key even engages the alarm!!!!!!!!

Its amazing the things you can learn from reading the full driver's manual (as opposed to the "Quick-Start" folder).
Same trick also works with the 911, but I had forgotten that because I always use the remote to lock the car.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I swear my girlfriend can't close the hatch...

It has now come down to closing it with a secret martial arts move.

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

    Just as an update...

I brought my Cayenne S to Carlsen and Brian Haske fixed the problem. They did a minor adjustment to the rear hatch and now it closes like a charm...no more slamming it!

I like it now...no need for the Electronic Comfort package, haha

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

for all 2005 models even v6 ,the electric hatch is standard....

    Re: Electronic Hatch Lock

I have the electronic hatch lock, and the glass part keeps openeing on its own :P
