Is Chris Bangle Consultant for Ferrari......

IMO *much* better than the initial press release pics. Doesn't look nearly as feminine as before. What a difference a slight angle adjustment can make!

    Still doesn't look good.

They don't need to pay him consultant fees.

They could have just dug out his rejected sketches from the days he did those small FIAT "sports" cars.

FWIW, guess who is the hottest designer in the automotive industry which other car manufacturers are emulating? None other than Bangle. BMW is setting records with its sales and Japanese as well as US car manugacturers are using his styling cues.

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Ferrari California! I really like it also my wife likes that one very much AND I've to say that she doesn't like Ferrari at all.
    Greetings

You're a tough one to convince!

I think the small rims add to the strangeness of the car, and the more I look at the front, the more it reminds me of a Maserati GT.

In the end, we're just going to have to see it in the metal - remember those HORRIBLE press pics of the 599?

I agree...still doesn't look good from the front. But, it's far from ugly.

The back, however, is very good. I absolutely love the exposed tail lights. Way cool!

This should be the signature Ferrari styling cue. Now, let see how long before Corvette rips it off.

I guess you refer to the FIAT Coupé aka Piccolo Ferrari ?

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149!!

ok, imho great and even good automotive designs all have a high degree of continuity with respect to the overall shape and various details...ferrari has had some great ones over the years...this isnt one of them... its like a boss man in the design studio put out a more, many more doo-dads directive to underlings and while were at it make sure the tail lights relate to nothing....pathetic, glad i wasnt waiting for one.

That's right. I was in fact thinking of the Coupe AND the open Barchetta, but your link to Wikipedia prompted me to check my facts. The Barchetta was in fact done by Zapatinas.

I couldn't remember the model-name of the coupe when I wrote my original post. Not surprising, considering it was "Coupe Fiat"!

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

is it just me??? this is the fiat turbo coupe 20v...

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149!!

look at the rear side part...

Chris Bangle did a styling proposal for the Barchetta which was called the Diavolo. This car was rejected but elements of it (slashes around the wheelarches and headlight design) made it onto the finished Fiat Coupe design.

This is a great pic - reminds me of those dream-like ads from the 80s... Can someone photoshop the car to black and put Crockett and Tubbs in front pls?

I agree. This picture is completely 80's, could be a photo wallpaper in a tanning salon

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

There really isn't any space for the licence plate.

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

Speaking of Crockett and Tubs, they were looking better in their fake black Daytona Spyder than in their authentic white Testarossa. The 149 could benefit from less styling clutter to be sure; however, I am still quite confident it will be a major success for Ferrari. I look forward to viewing the actual car. Front license plates are optional in Florida, not sure about California.

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

Still can't see the rear seats...

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

The more I see it the better I like this car. I wonder why they do not release pictures of the interior of the car and with the top up.

Re: Official pictures: Ferrari California aka F149

If I was to buy one, it would be in this colour and rim combo:
