On another note, any ideas on when the Gen II GT3 is going to be released?

At least a year from now is my guess...

    Re: GT3

Hey guys saw some pics of the facelift pdk today from some guys that went to stuttgart prelaunch, unfortunately there won't be paddles but a button similar to the tip but the leftside will be - while the right side will be +. I have placed a deposit for the c4s cab pdk, a little ovr 95k( a bit expensive) but I don't mind. Will be going on the driving experience in July(c2S since 4s won't be out yet), according to the sales guy there are only 3 dates in july at Silverstone(not completed yet) so may be I'll see some of you guys there

    Re: GT3

I'll book my experience then - I was waiting to ensure I got the new car.

I thought I had gone made at Pounds80K for a C2S - the C4S cab with options wins!

Are the buttons front or back???

    Sticking with stick

If the new car has stupid Playstation buttons I'm sticking with stick. Buttons sound like a horrible solution!

We shall have to try the ergonomics of the buttons first before we pass judgement. Are they better than paddles? Even if they are not they might still be more efficient than stick.
For Porsche to go against the trend for paddles, there must be a good reason IMO.

    Re: Sticking with stick

It will be special - I was at the track on Friday in a manual C2S and all I could keep thinking was how much quicker not having to take hands off wheel would be!! High speed cornering seems to be either top of 2nd gear (90*) or top of 3rd gear (45*) I was continually having to change on the exit at about the time whwn I was trying to get the lock off and power flat down!!

If Walter Rohl has approved the system it will be good enough for me!

    Re: Sticking with stick

The problem with buttons are they are attached to the steering wheel. You really want the buttons/paddles fixed and stationary at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Think how many times your hands are not in those positions on the wheel when you need to change gear. That's why it doesn't make sense.

    +1

    Re: Sticking with stick

I had an Alpina with buttons, so so (especially as 1 button was working intermittently at 1 point). On the other hand please remember that it is different driving on a circuit where you do not turn the wheel as much and the road, where you do.

By and large, fixed paddles any day for me.

As for Shabab, lucky you, most people would have loved to start, immediately or with some "delay" with a Porsche! You ought to listen to their words of wisdom though, it is a "safe" car to have an accident in, but an easier car than most to physically lose it!!! You will only be able to enjoy it on a track, anything else will leave you hungry for more, or wishing you were on the track (my view anyway, remember you all, he in living in the land of car policing hell - UK-)

    Re: Sticking with stick

When are we going to see the official pics????

Every morning I open rennteam, a part of me wants to see that "news" thread that RC kindly posts at the main index (just like the cayenne turbo S official specs and pics)

I cant really wait no more !!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Sticking with stick

Why arent the specs online yet if ppl are ordering it specced with 997.2 already?!

She wants paddles, he wants buttons, you want fixed paddles... it's all a UI issue and it just takes getting used to.

BTW... F1 uses paddles attached to the steering wheel...

And an F1 car has about half a turn to full lock...and that's why blind mimicry of "professional" technology often fails when it's used in an "amateur" context.

    Re: Sticking with stick

Subject beaten to death already, fixed paddles is THE way to go...

    Re: Sticking with stick

The guys like myself that have placed their 10% down and put the spec in had to do it in the dealership without taking any paperwork away. We were showed a document that was marked strictly confidential and told to pick from it.

The cost of most of the new extras in GBP have been published on this thread, and the extras including codes align with the spec document posted already. If there are any extras you are interested in let me know and i will try to remember the price in GBP.

The phone and nav module are about the same price from memory. The -20mm PASM with LSD is about Pounds750 on a C2S

thats quite strange, what dealership are you using ? I use Reading and they have promised me a slot in July when the car is released. The new drving experience track is not yet ready until July (silverstone)

Interesting... I have always used Reading in the past, but this car i got from Bristol. I phoned the number given on the postcard that invited me on the Experience.. Is what you have been invited to something different ? i.e. a launch event rather than the half day experience included with the purchase ?

    Re: GT3

italo when did you place your deposit and have you specced your car?

    Re: GT3

i think he said he used Reading

    Re: GT3

I placed a deposit for a c4s cab and I'll be going for the driving experience of the c2s as the c4s won't be available yet

I was given the strictly confidential sheet to look at the possible spec I want, also an extra 2% was added to the price inorder to reflect the potential price increase

    Re: GT3

cool seems like a few people are starting to see things - hopefully my dealer will get some info soon

    997 facelift

The pictures should surface within the next 10 days.
