    430 Showing?

    I just received an invite to an exclusive presentation by appointment only for a private viewing at Pebble Beach Aug.12-15th. I have to call and make an appointment. It does not indicate what it is for. I suspect it is for the F430.

    The invitation is from the President of FNA.

    I may do it. Anyone else get one and if so do you know what it is for?

    The invitation is by mail. No photo's allowed and I can bring one guest. I booked for Aug. 12 at 2:00 pm. They told me the new Ferrari models would be previewed.

    Some have speculated that they'll show a 575 convertible at Pebble Beach. I'll be out there for the Councours, but didn't get invited

    Grant I just learned you are correct. The F430 will not be shown but the super secret 575 convertible will be. I have posted in the past that the 575 convertible will be equipped with a retractable transparent top. The car should be stunning.

    Also it should reduced the insatiable demand for the 360/420 Spider or at least I hope so.

    Are you sure about that roof? Thats a lot of work for a car due to be replaced in like a year. I thought it was gonna be a Barchetta like the 550 one they made a few years back????

    I am sure about the roof. Your right about it being like the Barchetta. It will be a V12.

    the 550 barachetta had a roof, it was manual and could only be used up to 70~mph (Wtf?) -

    and it was butt ugly. when deployed, it made the car look less like the 'lady of maranello' and more like the 'hunchback of notre damn'

    Are you serious? That car was beautiful..........damn how anyone could think that car is "ugly" is beyond me....

    Well if it's a Barchetta then it can't have a folding roof....Barchettas have only temporary roofs and are meant not to use the roof 99% of the time. If it will have a folding top, then it will be a Spider.

    bluecam i think you misunderstood

    the 550 barachetta is one of the most beautiful cars in my opinion

    i was referring to the 'temporary roof' the car comes with, when it is on, it completely ruins the entire car beyond words.

    I suspect buyer base of $300K+ 575 Spider overlaps w/that of serial 360 buyer (rather than anyone still waiting for a 360 Spider) and those who will be first to receive 430 at MSRP....so doubt 575 Spider will diminish 360/430 demand in any way...

    Doubt anyone w/Barchetta uses it in inclement weather....so its vestigial roof is fairly irrelevant. Typical Barchetta owner prob has several F-cars and a few other more usable commuter vehicles. However, this rumored 575 Spider w/trick glass roof may become the all-weather commuter car of choice for the Atherton/Bel Air set....

    now that you mention it, there has been an interesting phenomenon of LOTS of people using 360s -coupes mind you(presumably used and purchased in the 100-120k$~ range) as daily drivers in the NYC area...

    glad to see some people finally got the idea.

    I would bet vast majority of commuter F's in NYC region are in Greenwich office corridor.....and they are purchased new and frequently traded in for new 360 iterations . The commute from Greenwich to NYC is so annoying even die-hard sportscar guys typically get a driver and are driven in by S55/600.

    Well I am rethinking whether I go. It would require me to fly to SF rent a car and return home the same day. If they were displaying the F430 it would have been worth the trip. The 575 convertible I have no interest in.

    United Express flies right into Monterey also (direct from LA, not sure about SD...)

    Why can't you hop in the Ferrari and drive up hwy 1? It was a wonderful drive when I took my Porsche.
