    The SL600 was tuned by renntech of USA to produce over 600hp.

    The SL65 AMG is producing 600bhp but it weighs more due to more reinforcements. So yes, a tuned SL600 will keep up with SL65.

    It doesn't happen very often, and they rarely admit it when it does, but the Car and Driver SL600 was a ringer. It had an ECU modified to create more boost than the stock car does from the factory. Bilal probably knows about this, he mentioned Renntech, which of course is a possible culprit since it was likely their loaner car that C/D tested.

    Bottom line: The German mags have much more accurate times for both the SL600 and SL65, and they are worlds apart as you'd expect them to be.

    in my experience performances in straight accelerations and drag races are hugely dependent on the driver ability to avoid wheel spin and to make a stunning start.

    I've been witness of Ferrari Enzo track tests by a lot of magazines' pilots and i can say that there was a huge gap in between the performances found by each of the drivers.

    Even in between the official Ferrari Enzo testers there is a big gap:

    ex Dario Benuzzi(official Ferrari Production cars tester) was
    able to achieve 0-62.5 mph in 3.8s.
    Andrea Bertolini (new Maserati MCC tester and new Ferrari
    F12004 co-tester) was able to achieve 0-62.5 mph in 3.3s

    So take the numbers for what they really are.....numbers
