New Heated seat controller too then?

    Re: PCM 3.0

No.... That is how they do it on the Cayenne... (Seat heater switch)

Same as this? Check PCM treatise (manual). Don't have mine with me.

TIME TO SPEC MY CAR !!!!!!

Got a call from my dealer this morning....

I need to spec my FL C2S by Monday I am top of their list and getting a July build slot.

The news on some of the interesting extras is as folows:-

X51 will be available about 2 month after initial launch and cost Pounds9.4k It wil lift power by about 30bhp... I can't have this as my car will be built before available

Sports exhaust is available, but again after launch... i will get this retro fitted...

I will be able to give more details tomorrow as i am going in to spec my car....

So that would make the C2S X51 about as quick as the GT3 in the straight line. Not bad.

The two month lag was apparently set to coincide with a full-line availability here in the U.S....Porsche's most important market.
    Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Hey....you guys are getting the car first....so obviously, you are more important.

    Re: PCM 3.0

We had that changed 2 times in our Cayenne S

    Thanks for confirming that Trundle_GT3

I guess Porsche took on board criticisms about how flimsy the SIM card tray on the current PCM is.

    Re: PCM 3.0

I'm curious about the change in price.

Is there any information to suggest a larger than average price increase? (That is, more than 3-5%)

    Re: PCM 3.0

    I hear less - 2.5% increase

Could be worse in the US, due to the weak dollar...

I doubt it. PAG knows the dollar-euro correction will soon correct.

    Re: PCM 3.0

I never fancied the 996 at all but the facelifted 996 C4S is one of my favorite 911s, it's a stunner thanks to the turbo from bumper and the lights strip. I hope it looks just as good on the MkII997.

Not at all, no need to worry.

If they REALLY knew that they could make more money betting on the dollar than they are making from building cars!

    Re: PCM 3.0

I think porsche AG had bought some obligations wich gave them the right to a certain euro/dollar rate for a long period of time, no matter what.

I had read something about that.

I don't know when it will end though.

I think you'll be disappointed. On the 993s and 996s the red strip sat nicely on a horizontal bumper line and tied in to the red taillights. On the 997, the bumper line isn't straight and the strip doesn't tie out the red portions of the taillights--just a somewhat arbitrary point about halfway up the cluster. The red strip appears to be as useless and tacky as the shields on Ferrari fenders.

Probably. But as it stands I guess it'd be cheaper for a European to order a car in the US & ship it. I don't think Porsche will want that to happen.

Porsche probably don't mind that happening the warranties are not global. Good luck selling a low milage US MkII997S without any warranties here in Europe. So a person importing a car from the US would in the long run not have made a good deal.

    Residual worries

I spoke with my local dealer on Thursday. He offered a launch car for July delivery if I buy today (Mon 12th May). Given the depreciation hit, and as launch cars are still available, I'm going to pass. it's getting ugly for resale here in the UK now. Oversupply current problem with 997 and credit crunch problem for FL IMHO. (most cars here in the UK are funded) I hear many folks are upsidedown on their finance and because the 997 has depreciated so badly, cannot afford to move,

    Re: Residual worries

    Yes, I agree.

I specced my FL 997 last week for a July build. Several people seem to be worried about being far down the list for the FL car, but given the over supply with the MK1 997 i can't see it being an issue. I placed my deposit at the end of Jan and was told last week when i specced the car i was top of the list.

Doubt i will buy this car on credit as i was burnt on the last one although it was a Cayenne !!!

You must have seen the new Order Guide then. Any new interesting options?

    Re: Residual worries

1.5% price hike is what I saw - and PDK was Pounds2500 odd. Much as has already been posted on options. (X51 was over Pounds9K)

1.5% not bad if you think that you needed the X51 on 997 version.1 to get the 30 odd extra HP.

    Re: Residual worries

    Base C2S is now over Pounds70k (Pounds70,380)

Slightly frustrating is that most of the options i wanted (X51 or Sports exhaust etc..) are not available until week 28 from memory (7 July onwards)

A lot of the options are only slight price increase and the newer ones like PASM -20mm with locking diff are cheaper than expected (Pounds750 ish)

    Re: Residual worries

Any chance to get a copy of the order guide posted???

    Re: Residual worries

PDK is ready for the 1st round in July?

    Re: Residual worries

    according to my dealer, yes.

    My Spec

I completed spec today for Gen 2 997:

    C2S Coupe
    Ruby Red
    19" Carrera Sport Wheels
    Black leather
    Sports Seats
    PDK
    Sport Chrono Plus icw PDK
    Heated Seats

Rear section of centre console painted in ext colour
Door entry guards in Stainless Steel
    PCM extended Navigation
    Bluetooth telephone module
PASM Sport with - 20mm and LSD

I would have had more leather inside but not availabke with first orders!

Think I've got it about perfect....role on September 1st!
