    Driving Shoes

    Hi,
    I was watching a foot doctor on TV who said the best shoes were no shoes as in going barefoot. However, things like glass, nails, sharp rocks, etc. can make going barefoot dangerous so he mentioned these new "shoes" that give all the benefits of going barefoot but with protection. I was intrigued and ordered a pair. Granted, they look weird as your toes have "finger places" to go in them, not unlike a pair of gloves but they feel great! People do everything from yoga to walk to run to bouldering in them. I took the P-car for a drive yesterday in them and was amazed at the tactile feedback they provide.     hmmm...
    dont really know what to say...
    well anyway: for driving i prefer shoues with a stiffer, but thin sole....these dont really look like that.

    Foot gloves eh?
    Better driving feel? Okay but what happens when you have to get out of the car? I mean....errrrrrrrrr...hmmmmmmm... Better than hand shoes I guess.

    Gee, I thought we'd have some fun with this. Please don't tell me most Porsche owners are up-tight, status-seekers, afraid of what others might think, and afraid of actually considering a new idea. Did the nice folks who condemmed Gallileo for saying the Earth wasn't the center of the universe drive Porsches? Hmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder. Of course

    I'm sure they're very comfy - but I'm way too much of a fashion slave to buy a pair. MMD, often talks about driving barefoot - so these could be good for him.

    I guess they do look kinda weird guys.
    MMD may be on to something, driving with them felt as good as barefoot (feedback) but with non-slip bottoms.
    I'd not ever seen these colorful toe socks STRADALE but they do make socks especially for the FiveFinger shoes for when it's cold:

    If comfortable driving shoes are what you are after, try a pair of Piloti's...lightweight, with a wrap around rubber heel, and you get similar "feel", plus they come in "nice" fashion colors too.

    HAHA this is a funny thread.

    Thanks for the link (and PM clue) Dasein. Gonna check it out and maybe buy for a gag gift.

    For the record, I _always_ take my shoes off and drive in my socks (not bare feet). Seriously. It's the only way I can drive now, I can feel the pedals a lot better. You also can effectively bring your torso 12-15 mm closer to the wheel (no thick soles). My shoes go sideways where the fire extinguisher would go.

    Puma speed cats were very stylish awhile back AND quite nice to drive in due to the solid midsole.

    These days I prefer tennis shoes.

    It's hard being chic.

    Dasein, you total freak! Sweet! I have a few pairs of toe socks... pretty common in japan (where I studied). I usually try to wear them when I have to fly so the TSA folks get some entertainment.

    I'm going to get a pair of these just to weird people out.

    I believe my almost-every-day driving-shoe solution is 1. Superior, 2. less-goofy-looking, and 3. requires no new purchases..

    I'm usually sporting cargo shorts and flip-flops... Hop into the Porsche.... kick off the flops on the floor just in front of my seat.... drive barefoot...

    With the engine in the rear, you don't have to fret about heat through the pedals, so why wear shoes (or silly looking toe-sock-sandal-thingies)???

    And EVEN BETTER, my floor mats stay as-new, no shoe heel wearing holes in the carpets, no soil from the bottom of shoes being ground into the nap...
