The name is old Turkish origin given the meaning "spirited young horse".
Tay-can
Tay is young horse -Can is live-life
However the way they pronounce is Tay-kan
Kan means blood. Usually added to the first name to emphisize spirit. It is hard to explain but think of a warrior American Indian warrior name.
Well maybe all this is a hallucination of mine.

Why not keep Mission E? Sounds innovative...

Paulo_Rangel_Melo:C(h)ristian and Aldo!!! Did you guys had the chance of seeing the Taycan Interior?
I saw a sketch only but this was months ago...and it looked basically like the study with a few differences to ease manufacturing and service/repairs.
Sorry...

All this criticism about the Taycan name is step two in classic marketing strategy. Step one is for a company to produce a surprisingly different product name which generates far more discussion than a normal name. Buzz is created, and arguments are set up on all sides. The very fact that there is a debate actually generates marketing awareness and ultimately better reception. Then the actual product comes along and everyone says “well, the name is not so bad but the product is absolutely fantastic, so who cares about the name.”
Shakespeare was spot on when he wriies of his reluctant heroine , who is finally seduced, “ that she who would never consent, consented.”

0 interest in the name, but more on the performance of this thing, its position on the segment and the final look compared to the great concept
at least, they will keep the branding of S, 4S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S. hope they will push it to S Hybrid and Turbo S Hybrid as well rather than power, 4 power, great power, super mega power, power and more
I will rebadge it mission E.

Latest video from Porsche on its heritage and how the new Taycan is part of the soul of Porsche.
However, as one has learnt recently on Rennteam, Porsche's heritage is meaningless and a relatively young, and not profitably company, in the States does EVs better.

Brian who?

There are certain attributes that are attributable to Porsche products including design elements, control feel and layout that began with the earliest of Porsche products starting with the Gmünd cars in the late 1940s. That's what identifies a Porsche instead of a General Motors or Toyota product. Even those that claim they are not influenced by 70 years of heritage are and it is reflected with their acquisition of Porsches.

Brian Redman is part of a special and sad memory for me. Years ago I found myself sitting next to him and his wife on a short Mohawk airlines flight from New York City to Watkins Glen where the Gran Prix was to be held. Both were very congenial and friendly people. A day or so later, during practice, I was in the paddock and met up with Brian and his wife to say hello again. They both had shocked looks on their faces and I asked what was wrong. He told me there had been a shunt and that Francois Cevert had been killed. Cevert and Jackie Stewart were driving for Tyrell and the team withdrew immediately.
The really spooky thing was that just before I met up with them in the paddock, I had gone down the hill to Watkins Glen and bought the Tamiya model of Cevert in the Tyrell. I still have that model, unbuilt in its original packaging, along with the obituary that appeared in the Walkens Glen newspaper at the time.
