New Porsche Video at PCNA website

PCNA has a new 997 video on their website:

    http://www3.us.porsche.com/Precision911/pcna.asp

It looks like the same location as the earlier small videos that appeared on www.flatsixfanatic.com.

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

Is anyone else having a problem with that video .. Its taking a year and a half to get 20 % done, its reallly annnooying ..

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

Yes. I can't even load the page completly.

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

Go to the German Porsche site. They have all 3 videos. Look under film. No problem loading...

This is a new one, different from the German videos.

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

Porsche's websites have always been excruciatingly slow, and the Driven by Precision site has been the worst of any since it went live a few months ago. An email went out this morning (to something like 50,000 people in the US) announcing this film clip, so it's apparent they didn't size their servers for the load.

I tried downloading several times throughout the course of the day, and the transfer rate was around 10 KB/sec, and it timed out 3 times. I finally watched it by streaming, and it worked after several tries. It wasn't worth the effort.

It does show what a US spec car will look like with the bumperettes in the back and the amber side makers.

The German films are way better than the American film.

Are the bumperettes easy to remove and cover?

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

I just tried it at midnight here in California. It was quick, earlier I couldn't get it. I have a feeling alot of people were trying to access it It is definitely the finished video from those mini clips posted earlier, I was curious as to why the car was going so slow, and turning so much in those mini clips. It was almost as if someone was doing it on purpose. Now I know they were, must have been a spy hiding in the bushes during the commercial shoot. Funny how an answer comes up down the road to a question you never thought you would receive. BTW the car looks absolutely stunning, can't wait to see it in the flesh!

I tried it yesterday and got the same result.

I tried it just now, and it's just as bad.

Porsche spends all that money on the production of the video, then all the IT time to pretty-up the website, and then cheaps out on bandwidth and/or server capacity.

Sounds like the MBAs in accounting have struck again.

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

I finally was able to download it last night after many failed attempts.

I got one word for the video " Cheezzzzyyy "

GOD knows how much money they spet on this commercial . I'm sure we all will see it soon on SpeedTV.

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

    I agree with Ron
They seem to want to promote the "image" rather than the performance and driver's car qualities, I guess they know they already have us performance nuts in the pocket already and they want to use the marketing to tap into the poseur crowd more
Although many of us can identify with the kid in the video, but I as expecting a spirited drive up a mountain road with the sound of the engine, the driver inputs, the shots of the 997S in motion, etc. you know... that thing the 997S was built for, the pleasure of driving!!

Anyway, I suggest to use a download software that automatically resumes its self when the conection is lost, like Getright, with which I had no problems.

And here is the direct link to the video for it:

You got it Mike. This video is not as good as others. Some of these are good as they are portraits of many of P-car owners

Mike: love your product. It has saved my bacon many times. V1 rules!

How could they possibly have anticipated that so many people would have wanted to download it at once, when they simultaneously informed 50,000 people by e-mail that it was available?

    Exactly

I'd rather see a commercial that they're driving a s _ _ t out of 997 in the race track as opposed to driving it slow in a nice street .

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

that was a waste of my time .. i wanted to see some action

Re: New Porsche Video at PCNA website

Porsche's commercials have been so impotent in recent years. This latest 911 film is no different. How much can they belabor the single point that that kid likes the new 911? I don't care if that kid likes the new 911! That same kid probably liked the Hummer H2 when it was new as well! That kid is probably going to repeat the fifth grade!

What I want to see in a Porsche commercial is that they focus is on the car. Porsche now has it all backwards: they think that you can generate desire for a car if you show that the car is desired. Instead, what they should be doing is show that the car is awesome; the desire for the car will come as a natural byproduct.
