    Moogle: Specs please

Finalising my TTS now. What did you finally specify?

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

After perusing the new Preliminary order guide, (2-3 weeks ago) I 'finalized the order with the below spec,

that said, I may have missed something, i am still going over the guide bit by bit to make sure., and i am a bit unsure about a few things, but other than that, since most of the 'real' options are included, most availible options are in the 'looks department'...

    2005 Turbo S Cabriolet

    Colors

    Exterior Black
    Interior Black Full Leather
    Black Top

    Options

(XX1)Floor Mats (on a $140k car, floor mats aren't standard, i commend porsche on being able to pull this off)
    (X54) Stainless Steel Pipes
    (XCZ) Sport Shifter

    (586) Lumbar Left
    (513) Lumber Right
    (342) Heated Seats
    (XSC) Porsche Crest In Headrest
    (XSX) Red Seat Belts

(Z098)/(Z099) All Deviating Stiching Red (not sure whether to keep this)

(CCP) PCM Package Aluminum Look (unsure...)
(XCE) Center Console Painted Aluminum Look (unsure, mabye want to change to leather [xmz])
    (Y06) Aluminum & Leather HandBrake/Shifter
    (E80) Aluminum Look Package Large

(CUV) Storage Compartment w/ Turbo Logo
    (CPU) Key Pouch Interior Leather

I think thats it... total came to something like 165k with our initial calculations (probably off by a bit)... Prices for options are not officially released, but i doubt they will change from 04.

tax, financing/dealer fees, will bring the total up to 180~...
its a bit silly, but buying a 200k~ car is a decision for the heart and not the mind.

Feel free to ask if you need any help!

PS. please don't order any wood options

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

Moogle, very nice choices . Additional items you may want to consider are: hardtop delete; Natural Grey leather; Park Dist Control (very useful for urban/street parking); electric seats; and thicker steering wheel.

I agree. I have the CPZ thicker wheel on my '04 TT Cab and I love it. But, I have large hands that span slightly more than an octave on the piano.

My petite wife thinks the grip is a bit too fat for her taste, but she wears size 5 gloves. YMMV.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

WIth the sports shift, have you tried it? I was worried whether it would make the car to hard to shift for my wife. Anyone else have some thoughts?

    What are these exactly?

    1. the sports shift is the B&M short shifter essentially. it is not difficult, only feels more precise.

    2. CUV puts a embedded turbo script onto the little armrest sotorage compartment in the center console

    3. CPU is just a little pouch for your key done in interior leather.

    responding to your other comments:

i didn't feel natural was worth the 3k additional cost, since it is basically black.

    electric seats are standard.

and finally, park distance adds 4 VERY ugly and very obvious sensors on the back, nothing like the newer ones found on other high end cars, but REALLY ugly big ones.

as for the CPZ thicker steering wheel, i heard this may add up to 2~ months to the other, so i decided to forget it...

if i REALLY need it, i will probably get it from Gert carnewal.com, but i doubt i want it anyway, the steering wheel in my M3 is THICK, and compared to the boxster it feels like a politician's handshake,

    firm but insincere.

best of luck to everyone w/ their orders, hope we get our asses into the seats ASAP!

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

Natural in the UK is 'only' GBP791 (about $1500). Sure you aren't using the online configurator which makes you select it twice incorrectly (at least in the UK it does)?

My understanding is that on recent cars the Park distance is much smaller than it was on the earlier 996s.

Yes, but Moogle is spot on - it really spoils the look of the car at the back. If you have to go for it, then black is the colour which minimises the adverse effect.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

Moogle, How come no sports seats - far better than having standard electric with lumbar support, and they are a no cost option. I'd delete the red stitching, and go for the center console in aluminium. As you point out though, its all a matter of the individual heart etc. Hope you get it soon, and look forward to seeing the pictures of the car rather than Uma

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

    totally forgot about sports seats,

haven't sat in one yet, but i will make a point to try it out.

"no cost option" - not sure on that, i was under the impression that they cost 1200 USD each, not a big deal, but i got to make sure they are comfortable.

(Edit: that reminds me, even IF sports seats are no cost on the Turbo S - which i slightly doubt , no offense, but i will need to get electric sports seats, which i KNOW cost about 500-1000$ per seat - i HATE the manual seats on my boxster, the knob has broken off 4 times)

yes i am leaning twoards aluminum and no red stiching.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

    Moogle,

With car like that you have a shot at Uma having a ride with you.

I Europe they are definitely a no cost option. Manual though. didn't know you could get electric. I must say though that the standard seats felt fine to me.

One can order electric and heated sport seats.

It only increases the effort by about one third. It is really nice and helps me find the right gear slot more accurately.

Your wife would have to be quite frail for the increase in shift effort to overcome her. She may, however, prefer feather-light control effort as a substitute for real luxury.

The sport shifter didn't elicit a single comment from my wife, who is quite petite. I heartily recomend it.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

Thanks. I guess I have my M3 shifter in mind which I find hard work let alone my wife.

I haven't driven a recent M3. My old one ('89?) shifted like butter, so you may have a different sense of effort than do I. I am kind of big at 6'4" @ 205#, so even my shoes weigh more than most and what I regard as normal effort may be different than your particular calibration.

If you've driven a normally equipped 6-speed 996, the 35% more effort for the short shifter is noticeable, but not dramatic, in my view.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

try out the B&M shifter, lots of people have it in their boxsters, it is identical to the unit porsche uses.

(they rebadged/recolored the B&M and tripled the price). -but hey, thats what you pay for warannty peace of mind.

as for the above, I Need electric seats. so just to make a point, the sports seats will cost money even if they themselves are a no cost option, as i am very sure the electric sports seats cost 1000$ each (in addition to sports seats themselves -which may or may not be 0$)

gonna show up at the dealer next week to try out some sports seats.

No, it is just very heavy ('03 model).

Tried the short shift on a 996 of a friend. It is fine. Have added to my order now.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Re: Moogle: Specs please

On '04 US models, Manual sport seats were a no-cost option on the TT.

Adding power adjustments rang the cash register to the tune of $1220.00 per seat.

    Heating them cost $410/pair.

Power lumbar adjustment was not offered with sport seats.

Painted or leather backs were $1495.00/$1610.00, other wise the standard back shell was "soft touch paint in black" (which looks like a flat version of Basalt)

Lowered seats (by 10mm) were $710.00

Ordering sport seats deleted the 3 position memory function, even if you wanted them powered.

All of above show up in the preliminary '05 order deck-no pricing yet, but it not expected to change much.

Moogle: PM me if you wish, your estimated pricing vs. your option list seems about 10G too high; on the other hand if you are right, I'm in deep doodoo.

    Regards,
    Frank
