WIth the sports shift, have you tried it? I was worried whether it would make the car to hard to shift for my wife. Anyone else have some thoughts?

What are these exactly?

My understanding is that on recent cars the Park distance is much smaller than it was on the earlier 996s.

(Edit: that reminds me, even IF sports seats are no cost on the Turbo S - which i slightly doubt , no offense, but i will need to get electric sports seats, which i KNOW cost about 500-1000$ per seat - i HATE the manual seats on my boxster, the knob has broken off 4 times)

I Europe they are definitely a no cost option. Manual though. didn't know you could get electric. I must say though that the standard seats felt fine to me.

Thanks. I guess I have my M3 shifter in mind which I find hard work let alone my wife.

I haven't driven a recent M3. My old one ('89?) shifted like butter, so you may have a different sense of effort than do I.

If you've driven a normally equipped 6-speed 996, the 35% more effort for the short shifter is noticeable, but not dramatic, in my view.
