    Anyone placed an deposit for the F142 yet?

    I just transfered my deposit from Scuderia to F142, but on the contract it stated as model F430 F1. My dealer told me the reason is Ferrari won't allow them to accept deposit for an unknown future model. Any thoughts? Do you think the salesman is cheating on me?

    Yes deposit placed for 149 in July 2006. Confirmed spring 2007

    Deposit placed and confirmed for 142 in summer 2007.

    Hence my ferrari dealer has no problem in taking deposits for speculative models.

    Not a full deposit, but formal inital Pounds1000 on a F149 placed in April '05!!! Fully refunable if car does not come to fruition, or not to my liking

    So your contracts stated the real model name and delievey date?

    There can't be on the contract, since it's not finally decided how this modell gonna be called. As well as there is no exact delivery date.

    For the 142 I have a paper(not a contract) stating F43O succesor as model and there is no delivery date.

    However the model like the 149 have been confirmed to go to production and I have an alloted slot. Number 2 and 1 for spain respectively

    My local dealer would have refused a deposit on the F149 if I wanted to leave one... I am not going to bend over for what could be a rebranded Maserati for $200k...

    I have never put down a deposit on a Ferrari. My relationship is when a new model is coming out and the dealer is confident it will be produced, they call me and ask if i want one. Over a week ago, I advised my dealer I wanted the 149 and later the 142 when they are FIRST introduced.

    They have confirmed to me that I will be a early recipient of both cars.

    Good luck with your hunting mate!!! Sounding like it could be possible in this case. Better ask for more committment like from a top management and always keeping contract with them!

    I placed an deposit for the Scuderia in 2007 Feb and at that time the contract is also stated as F430 F1. And the reason is same as I mentioned before, but until now my salesman still cannnot comfirm when is the delievey date of the Scuderia and he said most likely within 12 - 18 months. And at that time, the new F142 would be on the way, so that's why I transfered my desposit to the new model. But I hate to play this freaking game, let's see what my VIP friend in that dealer can do for me.

    I think if I not found someone with connection inside the dealer, I won't get the car anytime soon. The waiting list is 2 years.

    We all have to be patient, when 10,000 F149 will come out of the Maserati every year, there will be no more waiting list...

    Do you think this will affect the resale value of the 599 and other models since it's rumoured that 10,000 F142's will come off the line every year I'm thinking that it will become a P-car scenario supply > demand hence drop in price !

    To some degree it has to. But not too much on the 599 and 430 replacement.

    This is not the case yet for the F149... They refused my deposit...

    Some advice. Go and establish a relationship with the dealer. Introduce yourself to the GM or owner. Tell them you are committed to being a Ferrari client. Keep pushing the ball forward. Do not just accept a no or we will keep you in mind. You make them keep you in mind.

    True enough they may want to extrect a small price but at the end of the day, once you receive client status, things change dramatically. Keep in mind that the 149 goal is to bring in new customers for Ferrari. There is not a better time to get aggressive in your pursuit of Ferrari than now.

    What is a decent sized bribe I can use to get onto the "vip list" where I can purchase cars at MSRP.

    Not bribe more like a little present.

    When I buy a car I usually hand over 1k to 1.5k same thing applies to the service manager give him something once in a while.

    Results:
    Everytime a sale dissasits or any interesting opportunity, i get a call.
    Never made an appointment for servicing.
    Discounted price on servicing

    You give a gift to your doorman, to you waiter, this is the same. Moreover anybody could be bribed.

    I do the same at doctors, fast food places and other aspects of every day life. You make them happy they make you happy.
