    My new daily

I can not believe how comfy this car is. Drives like a dream and more than fast enough. Just came home from a quick trip to Geneva. 1600Km roundtrip in 24h.
A mountain picture from very cold CH. It was spring in Belgium when I left and when I arrived in Switzerland it was snowing and cold.

    Re: My new daily

Have the car a few days now and am very happy, best in class for me. (by far)

    Re: My new daily

    Last picture from CH

    Re: My new daily

Why can't Americans get this thing? I'd drive it in a heart beat. It looks like NOTHING on the road over here.

    Re: My new daily

Top pic is great. I dunno why, just is.

Maybe photoshop the lic. plate out?

    Re: My new daily

These pics seem to be taken between Nyon and St-Cergue
A very nice road, but better when dry .

I do like this Citroen . The deseign is different from the other cars and it It looks very sleek

25 min away from Nyon ... I have driven often on that road, specially with my motorbike, when I still had one , It is a place when in the nice season a lot of bikers, car nuts gather to have a nice drive

    Re: My new daily

What does this car compete against? A6 Audi, 5 series BMW?
    Very unusual looks!

    Re: My new daily

Yes it supposed to be a competitor for that type of car.
But the C6 is rarer than a Porsche. So you can not really say it is "competition".
Citroen offers great incentives to try move some cars. But most people who shop in that market do not want a Citroen , it HAS to be a BMW , Benz or Audi. They do not know what they are missing. The C6 is a very well build car with a design you either hate or love.
The best thing about the car though is the suspension. It is truly amazing.

I loved it the day it came out. And since I need a "family car" with my son a few weeks from being born I had the perfect excuse to buy one.

    Re: My new daily

    Congrats Denis.

I test drove 2.7d and honestly did not like it at all.

    It is rare car indeed...

Is it a hydraulic or pneumatic suspension? How does the driving experience compare to the German brands?
BTW enjoy the car with the extended family!

Thanks Kreso , it is indeed the 2.7HDI I bought.
I understand you as well. A C6 really needs to grow on you.
It is so totally different from anything else we are used to that it takes time to adjust.
A little like going from windows to mac
But once you are used to the driving experience it is simply out of this world.

    Re: My new daily

    Reginos, it is hydraulic.

See the end of this test :

and here (also at the end the suspension demo):

    Re: My new daily

Congrats, I like the C6 very much also!

In fact currently I love most of the Citroen line-up (C4, C5 and C6), I find them to have a great design and they allow to access latest technology for affordable price.

FYI, when asked his favorite car, the C6 designer answered "The Porsche 928".

The Citron does not compete against a series-5. No way.

    Re: My new daily

Congrats on the new car. C6 is indeed an interesting car. But after trying French once with a Peugeot, I think I will stay away. Love the eccentricity of French cars though!

Oh btw, I too just had a baby boy, and it really is a great thing. Ok sure it is 5am and I am up because of him, but I wouldn't change it for the world. And again like you I also had an excuse with the wife to add another car. Lol.

    Re: My new daily

French cars have never been able to reach the quality or handling or their german counterpart. Citroen designs have always been controversial at best. No french car manufacturer is in the US (well, Nissan apart ).

Fortunately, being in the US is not the goal of every automobile manufacturer.
My first car would no longer be legal to sell in the US, but who needs a 48mpg car anyway?

French cars have great handling! Well, the Peugeot 205 GTI did anyway. That car was sensational!

    Re: My new daily

Overall, their quality have vastly improved. they are not in the same league as BMW/Audi/Mercs, but vs. a Ford, an Opel or a Fiat, I take the Peugeot/Renault, thank you very much.
Peugeot have great handling and nice design. It's a matter of taste in the end.
Not being in the USA may be a good strategy. They are still independent and making money (no fingerpointing )

    Re: My new daily

I agree that the overall quality has improved .
There are three outstanding qualities to French cars.
    They are:
    1. Comfort
    2. Comfort
    3. Comfort

I saw a number of C6 on the street when I was in Paris in January. They were quite striking and attractive and I thought I would have to have one were I living there.

    Great purchase!

I used to drive a Citroen and the driving experience is very different to the competitors'. If you judge it by the common scoring system used by car mags you would not get the point of this cars.
The V6 diesel is developed in conjunction of Ford and also used in Jaguar and Land Rover models.

    Congrats on the other "newcomer"!

    Re: My new daily

I wouldnt buy anything french, i just don't like french quality, vw is bad enough but since owning a vw i wouldnt have anything else, fords are ok i only like the older cars the european models mk3,4,5 escorts, fiesta turbos, and any of the cosworths etc.

But i soppose it's down to personal taste.

But i could never trust a manufacturer who sells a vehicle with 3 wheel studs!

I have seen wheels come of the 3 studded citroens!

Times are changing. IMHO French cars have always had the best handling. But they're no longer the most comfortable. For some reason many recent French cars have gone the "wooden bench" route:
    - Peugeot 207, 308, 407
    - Renault Laguna
    - Citroën C4.
The new Citroën C5 is a welcome exception to that unfortunate trend.

Unlike past cars, they are now solidly built (not Audi level, but still decent). But unlike past cars, they now come loaded with all kinds of electronic gizmos, which has led to all kinds of electronic problems.

I think the French make the best small (up to VW Golf size) cars. Above that, the competition is stronger, unless comfort is your very top priority (then get a C5 or C6).
