    RS 38

Is that equivalent to a 0-300kph with 5 gears?
What is the weight of that car?
Can you please post a clean run (there are two lines on that graph, confusing)
Can you post all the intermediate times vs speed in 20kph intervals please for that 100-300kph run?

Can you please explain how you calculate the slope impact on times in your model. Isn't a negative number a downward slope?
    Thank You

    Re: Performance Table

I can't comment too much on the various results but some are a little bit odd to say at least.

Regarding the RS Tuning 993 with 520 HP: one of the Rennteam team members is driving a 993 Turbo modded by RS Tuning with the 520 HP kit. This car was and is as fast as my 997 Turbo STOCK, so I doubt the published figures a little bit. I also met various tuned 993 Turbo with up to 540 HP claimed HP figures and only one was a bit faster than my stock Tiptronic 997 Turbo, so again I doubt the claimed figures. The 993 Turbo RS Tuning mentioned in the performance table is faster than the RUF 550 997 Turbo, this doesn't seem right, sorry.

Btw: the 997 Turbo RUF 550 HP testing has been done with GPS testing equipment, the result is pretty accurate and the 200-300 kph acceleration time has been clocked at precisely TRUE 200 kph and 300 kph, NOT speedo figures!

RC, you are of course correct the hp number in Alex's table is incorrect however most of the other numbers are also. My GPS tested numbers are:
    0-100 3.8s
    0-200 11.1s
    0-300 28.9s
    100-200 6.6s (3rd gear start)
    100-300 25.1s (2nd gear start)
    200-300 17.8s
    Max PS 577
    DIN weight 1455kg
    4WD
    GT2 flares, CdA 0.72 (stock 993tt= 0.66)

So you see the car is 50kg lighter than stock and has bespoke 2006 build engine with ~570hp from 5000rpm to 7000rpm on the RS engine dyno. With stock bodywork the acceleration over 250kph would be quite a lot better.

I am also keen to get RS38s slope program to run over and correct for the slope during my 0-300kph run, it is over 4m up to 280kph.......

There are so many factors to take into account for all the figures in the table which effect the numbers:
    Slope
Car running weight ie passengers/fuel load
Aerodynamics ie stock or add on wings increasing CdA
    Size of wheels
Gearing (particularly important when comparing in between speeds ie # of gearchanges)
    Road surface
Climate on day of the run
    Wind on day of run
    Speed of gear shifts

A 530hp RS Tuning 993tt body with the correct gearing and special aerodynamics can easily by near the top of the chart for 0-300, the specialy geared 5 speed one they built with sloped windscreen and narrower aero body did 0-300 in ~25s back in '97 ! In fact that very car is for sale now for 55K Euro

    Re: Performance Table

Thanks for the clarification, I appreciate it.
Unfortunately everybody who reads the performance table thinks that these very good results are valid for the "standard" 993 Turbo RS-Tuning kit with 520 HP.
Like I said before, this can't be right as I have a real life experience with several tuned 993 Turbo compared to my 997 Turbo and compared to the RUF 550 997 Turbo.

We should also maybe mention that some of the tuning kits from Tuners are NOT streetlegal in Germany. They impress through performance figures and high HP outputs but since they couldn't be homologated in Germany, this means that they're not really safe. I won't even start to argue about emissions...

    No problem RC
A friend has a single plug RS Tuning 520 kit on his standard body 993tt it has the latest style race cats and bigger exhaust with race mufflers its dyno numbers were 533PS @ 6400 rpm and 729NM @ 4300rpm.
It weighs DIN 1520kg (nice half cage in the back ) and we have GPS measured 0-300 (on the same airfield as my numbers) in about 36s

The table needs to be read with other the factors considered and really IMO only tests done on the same day, same road, same weight rules, same fuel rules, can be relied on as accurate.

As a matter of interest I contacted Cargraphic about their 624hp lightweight 997tt to ask why it was so slow 250-300kph since with real RS Tuning 624hp the 997tt should be doing 0-300 in ~24s or 250-300kph in 8s when this car took 0-300 in 28.2s, it sprinted to 250kph in a stunning 16st then took a lethargic 12.2s to go 250-300kph !

I got a call from RS Tuning who had been forwarded my email from Cargraphic
The bottom line is that the aerodynamic add ons on the CG car altered the CdA so much that it slowed the car immensely from 250kph. Round the track these aero add ons seemed to do the business with the CG car just losing out to the Techart 700hp 997GT2 by 0.1s at the Tuner GP !

    All interesting things to consider

    Re: Performance Table

Theoretic acceleration-curve of the 997 Turbo, based on the data of the AMS High Speed test.

    0-50 kph in 1,4 s
    0-100 kph in 3,7 s
    0-160 kph in 8,0 s
    0-200 kph in 12,3 s
    0-220 kph in 15,0 s
    0-250 kph in 20,7 s
    0-300 kph in 40,7 s

this are 2 runs so that should only show it's not a one shot wonder

you can see the v(t) in the diagram from May 23.

Most important for e.g. 60-130 mph runs is slope and weight.
Wind is not easy to get, so it's on you to do two runs in the opposite. But with ~500 HP wind is not that big kind till 130.
weight correction could be easily integrated in the tool, but what would be the reference? 2 Persons and 100% full of gas like on many magazines? I did that before in a excel sheet to prove that our driftbox runs can be compared with those we read in mags.
air pressure an temp is not that big deal with fully working ECUs as they will correct it with boost and ignition. If you run external boost controller or turbos at the edge of their specs it may matter a lot.

    cheers!

    Re: Performance Table

RC, I too have a RS Tuning 520 HP engine in my 1996 993 Turbo wide body, it weights in at 1590 kg.

I don't do standing starts but my XA-22 run from 100-200 kph is 7.5 sec and probably more representative of this combo.

OK; way too much compared to a normal performance box (Pounds300)

Pounds1400 for basic Videobox (no cameras) up to Pounds2700 for top of the range

    Re: Performance Table

Maybe this was already discussed but why would the stock Turbo Cabriolet have better times than the Coupe?

Also what happened to the Cargraphic 544#'s? Last time I looked when the #'s were first posted the 544 kit was near the very top of the chart & were even better than the AWE 700. I posted on the first page of this thread at that time that the 544 #'s didnt look right.

    Re: Performance Table

I will try to get some CG544 times later this year when things warm/dry up a bit.

I think the CG544 times were always where they are now.  I believe Toby may be right though in that the car testing those times was made lighter by CG and also had CG headers.

Either way the times should be similar to the Ruf550 car tested by RC.  I have shown many times that the CG544 pakage produces a little more overall power when added up across the range.

This is a chart I made the other day of the stock Turbo vs CG544 vs stock GT2 official power outputs.  You can see the CG544 is making up to 100 bhp more than a stock Turbo throughout the range.

these numbers are pretty good but in line with previous tests. 100-200km/h of 7.3s puts the stock 997GT2 on par with a stage 2 997TT (ECU/exhaust). Interestingly, the Gt2 is slightly slower to 300km/h in spite of lesser weight, and due to worse aerodynamics.

    Standing mile for a stock 997GT2 is 174mph vs 178mph for a stage 2 997TT.
