Toby does the car start pulling as soon as you mash the throttle - i.e. at the 0.4s mark, or did you hit the pedal at 0.0s? The reason I ask is whether we are measuring the lag. Starting at long accel climbing could very well be after a period of lag

I know exactly what you mean and had a good look at the file, the transition from steady state zero forward G (which was not as "flat" as you would imagine since keeping the thing stable in 3rd at 40mph require constant feathering of the throttle) to a "little bit" of G -ie when the throttle is mashed was at 0.4s - I am confident that this is when the hammer was dropped.
If you look at the pic you can see that it climbs relatively slowly from the 0.4s point. This engine doesn't actually have any lag between hitting WOT and attaining "some" positive Gs but I guess doing it in a higher gear (like 5th) will give amuch gentler G increase slope which may be easier to compare car for car

I think you are right in that it is probably the best way to make some kind of repeatable comparison using the G climb as a reference point. The 7.3s 2-shift 60-130 is excellent, but even better is your snappy shift times! Mine are almost 400ms each

But as a track guy you know that it is better to be slightly slower and make the shift - I ran a banzai "cooking" 60-130 run which was ruined by a "fluffed" fourth to fifth gear change - trying too hard

Some more data coming out about the Texas Mile runs. Most cars ran about 6-10mph slower than the previous event from the headwinds. A stock C6Z06 which managed 169mph last Oct only could muster 161mph this event. Also a new 08 Viper managed 169.9mph, but has turned 176-180mph before. Granted, both cars would suffer more from aero drag than the 997. Official times will be released soon.
