    X51 Fans: Short Answer

    This explains it very succinctly.

    BTW, different heads, exhaust, airbox seem to justify the us$15K difference.

    Need a bit of help here, and sorry if this is o.t. The article above says "sweeter" and "more willing to spin to redline than the standard version." What does that mean in English? What does "sweeter" mean when referring to motors? I have presumed in the past that it means you feel power and excelleration continously increasing without stop until redline, but I could be wrong. "More willing to spin to redline"...I haven't the slightest idea what that means.I am sure the author doesn't mean to say that my normal run of the mill C2S engine won't "spin" or reach redline...or does he?

    No sense of roughness. An ability to spin up to max rpm without any effort.

    Might be that subjective sense of the difference between both engines.

    "Sweeter" also refers to the sensation of..., I don't know..., maybe stuffing your mouth with a hunk of ice cream and then _savoring_ it for a few long seconds after a long walk on a hot day.

    When it comes to power, I'm an admitted junkie..

    More is always better, and "too much" is a sissified excuse/cop-out statement that does not begin to be relevant until the power simply cannot be used in any of the first four gears without violent wheelspin (and even then, it's still damn fun to play "ride the rodeo bull")....

    THAT SAID..... $15K grand for 26hp and some "character" is simply out of whack from a value-given for value-received standpoint. Hell, for $15K you can buy a 10-second 1/4 mile racer, or a clean low-mile C4 Corvette or a decent 80's 911... For those who don't need to sweat a $15K option, then I would understand COMPLETELY checking that box.. I would.... If I didn't care, and didn't have so many other great ideas of what I could do with $15K relating to cars and fun..

    I once contemplated a C4S with X51 power kit. Although I can afford the power kit, but just can't get over $15k for 25 horsepower!! It makes me feel like i am being royally screwed.

    You are, get a GT3 or TT if you can spend $15k on 26HP...

    whats the sound difference between a standard C2S with PSE and a x51 C2S with PSE? any real significane or is it a minute difference like the 26 hp?

    There sure is a difference in sound. Hard to explain, but evensportier with X51. You'd have to hear it live...

    how much louder as a percentage would you say? My friend has a 997 C4 with PSE (mine is a C2S with no PSE) and his note is only really louder up to about 4000 RPM, after which it really doesnt sound much different to mine. I was wondering if the x51 with PSE on my car could fix that? Or if the PSE on mine would generally sound louder than his because ive got a 3.8 and hes got a 3.6?
