    987 picture

    This weeks Auto Week(dutch) there's a picture of a 987 S in red, it is WONDERFUL! Looks are way better than on the first picture we saw of the car uncovered. (RC is right, don't worry, you'll like it!!)

    The picture was made when porsche was making a promo-movie for the car.

    If anyone has that picture, can you please make a scan.

    However, the car is still camouflaged.

    Nothing really new to see; maybe a better view on the side intakes and the front indicator lights.

    No, no new pictures.

    Right, this is the only picture available on the web which shows the Boxster REAL thing, no camoflaged or photoshopped car.

    The 987 is a beautiful car, no doubt about it. I already saw it WITHOUT any camoflage, including the interior (which is somehow different from the 997 interior, especially the speedo cluster). Porsche used the same "evolution" process on the 987 like they used on the 997. The only thing which makes me worry is the power figure of the new 987.

    But there still is a rumor of a 300-320 HP Boxster Turbo...
    And I think somebody even saw this engine somewhere...

    Why would they bother with the complexity and turbo lag of a 320hp Boxster Turbo engine, when the 3.4L or 3.6L 996 engine could be dropped right in without changing a thing with the same power figures???

    Doubt it, this motor is not strong enough to handle that kind of extra power as far as I know...right guys?

    Didn't Ruf drop a 996 engine into the Boxster for the 3600S?

    Both good point Grant/bostonmini. Its as simple as increasing the bore on the boxster engine and what you have as result is the M96.03 996 carrera engine in the boxster and that engine is already available, instead of putting a small turbo with the turbo lag, coping with the increase in engine's stress of an engine that its not designed to cope with forced induction, etc. And there is no problem with packaging since its mid-engined and they would need maybe only a 3.2l for those HP numbers. The M96.03 3.6l engine and M96.01 3.4l has already been used in the Boxster already with no problems, RUF does it in their RUF 3400 and 3600 for example.

    OK, I ran to the bookstore right after work today, and they had the most recent issue of dutch autoweek, but nothing in it about the new boxster.

    I belive the front end of the 987 is better looking than the 986 and 997. I am a current 986 owner and did not belive anything could look better but this 987 looks sharp.

    Right... it's photoshopped. The lady in the car was also "used" for the red 997 phototshop picture in the german car magazine "Auto Zeitung"
