SciFrog:Funny most G are black with a few white and silver ones. Strange choice of color for a car who screams "look at me".
I don't think the G screams at all. to the average person im sure the first thought isn't "look it's that classic expensive mercedes truck", but rather "wow thats an old looking mercedes, do they still make that?"

Regarding color - if we get one, the test car color grey/black will be the one. I love those black fenders/roof on the car.
Good choice for Germany. We saw the yellow one at a local dealership recently and while it really looked better than expected (actually pretty amazing), this color on a G class would certainly provoke certain people over here to do something bad to your car. Not a good idea!

Well, I know three G class owners and interestingly they all adore the fact that G class is so raw and massive. Its funny to hear people saying they feel very safe in that car, no matter if other modern cars have much more advanced safety systems installed.
I assume MB designers & engineers are aware of that, and if they "soften up" G class it will be like any other SUVs on market.
Most G class buyers are pretty wealthy people, so they all have super luxurious cars with all goodies you can imagine, yet most of them like to drive G class. I think that is one of the reasons why G class is so expensive even used, owners just wont give them for cheap money.

Actually, average drivers are majority, so if you try to explain average G class driver that his car is bad ie. "not dynamic with very bed suspension" he will laugh at you. So, for most owners, G class is pretty amazing & capable car that looks absolutely badass.

In Germany, soccer moms usually drive Cayenne (and Macan... 
).

personally what attracted me to the G is its retro appeal. most owners of g`s certainly do not use them as long distance cruisers. does it make sense ? probably not. but the is a gt3rs the perfect commute ? neither.
its bold and it is different. look at vintage car fans. does it make sense ? probably not. are these cars fun ? hell, yes.

You have many other cars, the G63 totally makes sense for you... 
Would do the same if I could afford it.
