    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

I sold this car last year to an Italian. In real the combo looks great...

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

I personally don't think cocoa goes well with Cobalt but thanks for sharing these pictures. It's the first that I've seen with that actual color combination.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

Hmm, actually not that bad. I think the darker Cocoa tone makes the combination not nearly as glaring as I would have thought. Here is the picture with brightness adjusted.

I'm not surprised. When I first saw this cobalt/cocoa thread, I always thought that might look not that bad as everybody said. I had the combination of a blue suit with brown shoes in mind, something that is quite common at fashionable Italians.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

Cocoa with cobalt? No way! That combo is only for the colourblind or those with no taste and money to burn. Please don't do it.

    cmon it looks ok imho

    Maybe its because im italian?

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

Sure R_S_R, you will look just great wearing a cocoa coloured shirt with bright blue jeans.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

FWIW, I'd consider getting some black matts when the cocoa ones wear out. Not sure why. Maybe Blk adds a bit of mystery. Cocoa makes it look a bit lacking in depth.

and silver is only for the boring people in the world? Sorry.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

Thanks for the pics Florian...i dont think it looks bad.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

Someone sounds a bit grumpy and irritable today.

Hey, you may find silver boring. That's your opinion and I respect that. OTOH I happen to think GT Silver looks great.

But, we were talking about a colour combination (cocoa with cobalt) and how well they blend - not individual colours per se.

But hey, it's his money. If he wants a metallic pink exterior with sky blue leather interior, that's his choice.

So it is. Just respect his taste. He will respect yours. Btw. My car is black/ black. Boring, isn't it

But my next car will be midnight blue and brown or white with inside red...

what will be Cobalt Blue substitute?

Lapis Blue, a standard metallic color, has been around a while, it looks like a darker version of CB.

Au contraire - Cobalt blue's replacement is aqua blue, which I believe is darker than cobalt but lighter than lapis. Could be a good compromise for you, but please, not with cocoa.

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

LOL atomic. Bizzare! Good to know its only temporary!

    Re: Cobalt w/cocoa?

    How about some terracotta?

It's strange how colours you'd never think go well together actually work, although I agree cobalt with cocoa is a step too far, IMO.

I'd never have though either seal grey or GT silver with cocoa would work but having seen both combinations (porschejeck's and easy_rider's cars respectively) they look great. Similarly I love the striking combination of GT silver and carrera red in the Boxster RS60 - although SWMBO hates it.

I anguished long and hard about the combination with our own car having settled firmly on Cobalt. We narrowed it down to sand beige, grey or ocean blue. We came to the conclusion that sand beige was too strong a colour for cobalt, (it looks great with midnight or lapis blue) and also didn't like the idea of reflection from dash top in the windscreen, grey was a bit bland and therefore ended up with ocean blue. We lifted the all-blue theme with aluminium look highlights, such as the centre console, and subsequently retrofitted the aluminium gearlever and handbrake.

I believe a good guide is conservative styling such as a Porsche should heve reasonably conservative colours. Outlandish choices are likely to lead to severe penalties at resale time.

However the only choice that matters is what the purchaser likes, and inviting or listening to the opinions of others is only likely to totally confuse.
