    Rami's RUF Rt12 cab - Performance sheet & movies

    I hooked up a Performance Box to see how my baby performs.
    The car only has 2000km so the numbers will only improve.

    Here are numbers from various runs (tank 3/4 full, A/C on, 20" wheels on street tires without pre-heating):
    0-100kph: 3,64 sec
    0-160kph: 6,92 sec
    0-200kph: 10,70 sec
    0-402m: 11,42 sec (trap 205,61) ... this needs to improve but it will take me some time to perform a perfect launch.

    Comparison with:
    997 turbo coupé with Europipe exhaust and +10.000km:
    0-100kph: 3,72 sec
    0-160kph: 8,00 sec
    0-200kph: 13,38 sec
    0-402m: 11,90 sec (trap 195,50)

    Lambo Gallardo Spyder with +20.000km:
    0-100kph: 4,38 sec (4,08 sec WITH powerlaunch!)
    0-160kph: 9,44 sec
    0-200kph: 14,11 sec
    0-402m: 13,15 sec (trap unknown)

    Rami how did you do 100-200kms? Was it part of your 0-300kms and given by vbox a stand alone meaurement?
    And if the later did you have 1 (3rd to 4th) or 2 gear changes? Thanks

    It was a stand alone measurement GT. I only had one gearshift for that test (3rd to 4th).

    Thanks, I suspect those numbers will keep improving by quite a bit in the next 5-10k kms. Just keep redlining this baby and you'll see what will happen!

    The 0-200 km/h is impressive ! and so is the rest. And specialy knowing the conditions in which you diod the tests + the very low milage

    LOVE your car Rami!! We are definitely going to have to hook up over the summer at some point. These are the SportsAuto times for my Cargraphic/RS-Tuning Turbo:

    0-100 km/h: 3.3 secs.
    0-160 km/h: 6.8 secs.
    0-200 km/h: 10.4 secs.

    ...so would be interesting to compare Ruf 650 package vs CG 544 package.

    Hey, I am going to Porsche Showtime (web page) event in Switzerland 16-Aug - may be a great place for a few of us Rennteamers to meet up?!

    You'll have to wait until Rami's car reaches 10.000 km. After that, I suspect he will gain at least 1/2 second to 200 km/h.

    I also think the car still needs to break lose. 10.000km is a minimum they told me.

    What's also important: my car is a heavily specced convertible ... quite a bit extra weight to consider. And the 20" wheels won't do much good either I suppose.

    But still ... I'm very happy with the results so far!

    That's actually what's relevant, 200-300. It's understandable though, that it is somewhat more difficult to achieve this in Belgium .

    I would not worry too much about chrono times,this thing is very subjective and each run varies slightly from other runs depending on many uncontrolable factors(outside temp,road surface,driver's weight....),not to mention ,tyres,type of gasoline,car's set up,
    blah blah,what matters imo is how each time you go up against almost anything on the road(including many bikes)you thrash them very clearly and the nice thing is you can repeat it all day long again and again with no apparent stress to the car

    All those high speed test are done on the German Autobahn ... only 90-ish minutes away

    You are completely correct Hugo. The conditions in which I tested the car weren't perfect at all (large wheels, street tires that weren't hot enough, A/C on, too much gas in the tank ... and not to forget my own 95kg I need to drag along all day)

    I wonder what the car will feel like after 10000km .......

    As you have pointed out, your cabriolet may be a heavy SOB

    It would be great if you could get it on some scales with a full tank then gauging the performance can be more accurate.

    These cabs can weigh 1750kg all specced up which is 200kg more than the 997tt 544CG car tested.

    In pure power/weight ratio terms (this is peak power so does not take into account the shape of the curves so is pretty crude) a 1750kg tt would need 615hp to have the same p/w ratio as a 1550kg 544hp car......

    Just for comparison, I had a go on my PB also and for my C2S with 30,000 miles.

    Here are my numbers from one run (tank 3/4 full, A/C on, Michelin PS2's without pre-heating) and it was wet.

    0-100kph: 5.28 sec
    0-160kph: 11.37 sec
    0-200kph: 17.29 sec
    0-402m: 13.52 sec (trap 178.80)
    100kph-200kph: 12.01 sec

    Not too far from the lambo in the Qtr.

    But what a difference Rami. No doubt I can get better in the dry but just look at the difference. Twice as quick to 160kph and nearly twice to 200kph. lol

    Really need to get myself a Performance Box to play with!

    Not that I know of anywhere I can do a legal launch which allows me to go over 60mph

    I did some more playing with my new powerkit today. My conclusion was that my car is now capable of 'ludicrous' speed (Spaceballs ref), way more than I can ever explore on public roads. If you are just dordling about at 40mph then hit the accelerator, you are doing over 100mph in the time it takes you to check the horizon, hold tight and then immediately look down at the speedo!!

    Rami, do your Turbos now sound like they are angrily shouting at you when you put your foot down? Mine use to be very civilized; now they sound seriously aggressive! Much smoother but very mad.

    The Gallardo Spyder should be able to do 12.75 sec (quarter mile) with a powerlaunch but not much better than that. The coupés perform quite a bit better.

    Yeah, the turbos on the stock 997 are VERY civilized, ... not anymore

    I was finally able to do a 200-300kph test. From 0-300kph wasn't possible but I did use the exact same shift points starting from 100kph.
    This is the result ... pretty impressive

    200kph-300kph was done by using the same shift points so that SHOULD result into:
    0-300kph: 26.75 sec!

    God I need to put some extra mileage on this car ... can't wait to feel it at full force

    Ok this is now more like it. The 200-300kms number verifies the potential of the car since the lower speed measurements are influenced by the higher weight of the cabrio. This could further improve by a second or 2 after you put in another 10k kms in the speedo. This is a very cool cabrio indeed!!
