    how to get wires across the front firewal

    I just got a 997 cab and want to install a laser diffuser myself. I can get all done except dont know how to get the wires from the front through the firewal to the cabin. Any help will be appreciated. thanks.

    Hope you didn't buy a K40 as they are worthless. I had it tried with a Deputy's laser gun and, while it did indicate I was being clocked, it didn't scramble the signal and he got my true speed reading everytime. Needless to say, next day I put it on eBay.

    Have a passport srx I'll be installing on my 997 coupe in a week or two (have to pull it out of storage) will advise as soon as I have some info.

    When I got sick of waiting for an answer to your question:

    I don't know the exact path but first thing I'd do would be to strip car's trunk of carpeting. Find where main hunks of wire harness penetrate "firewall" from trunk. Look for promising corresponding location under dash. From trunk gently try shoving a blunted coat hanger in there from various angles (bend end over to blunt). ANY appreciable resistance means STOP! Quit while ahead. If CH passes thru: try to locate it under dash.

    May or may not work. If it works: great. If not keep surfing the net for answers. Impt thing is: do NOT force things because you're working "blind."

    Give it a shot. Then report back.

    If you look in the footwell above the accelerator pedal there is a small round cut out in the felt insulation. This corresponds to a blanking plug in the engine bay to the right of the battery next to the AC pipes. This is the best route to thread cables through the firewall.

    Berty987 is correct, that's the easy part. I found removal of front bumper cover and mounting the shifter brackets to be much more challenging, as well as routing the rear shifter cable. Required removal of bose sub enclosure, one interior side panel and sill plate. Let me know if you need any more info.
