    iPod and Porsche

    I have asked my dealer to check the possibility to connect the Appel iPod to the stock CDR - 23CD radio installed on my GT3RS.
    Answer has been negative but I didn't understand why.
    Has anyone tried to do the same and with what kind or results?

    You might want to check these out. Solutions for ipod to car radio conections have been discussed in the cayenne board.

    Very true Ron,
    But I can understand his point of view, after a while, especially going to a race track on the motorway, it can get tiring.
    I've tried iTrip to listin to my ipod in my car, it's an FM transmitter, it works ok, but not in town because of interference with radio frequencies.

    On a slightly different subject, Audi has a new hard drive MP3 player that I believe takes the place of the external CD. Now, if both Porsche and Audi use the same bus format, I wonder if that would work in a Porsche...

    ...and that is the same erring logic with which Porsche has stuffed such awful sound systems into their cars.

    Let's be realistic... everyday driven cars need good audio systems especially when they are in the higher priced luxury sector.

    Agreed. I always had Alpine equipment put in to my cars until PCMII came along. Now I put up with the really rather poor Bose system for the convenience of having an integrated system, and the safety aspect of the handsfree phone etc -but I still really miss the Alpine sound quality.

    Thanks for your anwers...although I can't see a real solution for my need.
    But...looking at the DensionUSA website, I see they should release a version of the ILink v1.1 compatible with the CDR-23.
    Any idea when they will do it?

    the timeframe for real aux-in for the MOST fiber optic bus is about 1-2 years from now.

    you must go with some sort of FM solution.

    iTrip is the best I've found so far.

    that's right, I use the iTrip every day. I wondered, that in Italy I had no chance to use it, I heard nothing...But in Switzerland, Germany and France it works perfect!!

    Unfortunately this does not work with 2003 and newer Porsches.

    I find it bewildering as to why car manufacturers don't intergrate the ability to play digital music into their sound systems. BMW of course being first manufacturer to do so -- a long overdue feature -- is hopefully an auspice of things to come.

    I am fairly certain that the GT3 does not use the MOST fibre bus.

    There is a solution available that plugs into the cd autochanger port and allows the iPod to be controlled by the car audio controls.

    I will see if I can find it.

    you are right MR. RS the GT3 uses a copper cable version of the CDR-23,

    but it seems some do have it and some don't... confusing
