Landsliding alluvial fans driven by the rain neatly embrace a bridge without engulfing it.... this time... anyway, with over a 1/4 mile of newly plowed road in the slide. Feels like Morocco, except here the bridges all stand, no "route De'viee " sign pointing into the wash!!
Watt, nothing in those shots looks too hard for the Jeep IMO; thats why its "America's Land Cruiser". The hard core Jeep nuts would be driving around that alluvial fan before they plowed a route through it....

Haha Eric n 4trac,
Sky and his Head of Nursing Ph.D think that's pretty funny!!
Sky learned long ago in his Geologist days, driving out is quicker than walking out for help to get unstuck. Leave a margin of safety between your situation, the road and the machine:
Status Here: 80 miles from nearest human, single machine, single person, no winch, 120 miles from cell phone service, very heavy rains expected that evening. 4trac -- how long does it take you to walk 80 miles? for me at 3 miles per hour, 8 hours per day it takes over 3 days.... without new landslides to walk over.
Sky prefers sustainable, self sufficient travel, others can do what they prefer to show off the brand
watt:Who is it on Rennteam that loves choppers? Here's a crazy man slinging dirt up the mountain in Kahuranghi Natl Park one load after another....

Hey Watt, I do know you would never take crazy risks way out back down there.... the Jeep showoffs I was referring to, typically in the SW USA, are usually way closer to an AZ gas station than you are. And your geo comment reminded me of what a wise mentor told me on one of my first field seasons as a young pup geo (regarding using tire chains to get more traction in snow...) "tire chains basically succeed in getting you stuck further from help than you would have been without them". I then proceeded to prove him right....

Yesterday , Chairman, as far cousin of Sun's New Sealand 's and South African's friends , wanted to have a meeting with all the boys at our place . He did not realize his internet friends where scattered on all sides of the globe and could not attend . He waited a long time .

Lol, great picture Gnil! Is that a border? On the topic of dogs, I took the plunge to get our first dog, a male Vizsla. Born 29th of March.
Here's Arran, say no to that... :)

Unfortunately I'm missing the 911R to match, but I'm thinking to make black Nomex coat for the dog to match the GT3.

Haha,
Yup, I learned the hard way planting my Chevy Blazer in a deep mesquite draw in central Nevada in 1979. I had to walk out 12 miles to luckliy find some cowboys who dug me out. I left them 5 cases of beer as thanks. I never ever pushed the truck again unless in a "controlled" environment.
BTW, Sun in in the midst of ordering an SVR, as the most all around NZ rig. The main issue is no A/T tyres for 21's, to run 20's you have to remove the brake ducts...., or run 22's to get Cooper LTZs a 6,000$ option, and too blingy for Sun.... So might have to live with Continental Cross Contact all seasons....
