Update regarding my E63 S: Car has exited production last week and since last Saturday, it is waiting for pickup (transport).

Today (Tuesday), my sales guy told me that the car is still sitting at the transport hub and he doesn't have high hopes anymore to get it in time for a Friday delivery. Smiley Me and my kids were expecting the car this Friday to be able to run it in properly and doing a short trip to Italy maybe as well. This is bad news.

My sales guy tried to switch from delivery to (factory) pickup but this isn't possible anymore because the car has already been prepped for delivery (transport).

Long story short: Pretty disappointing. Next Monday is a holiday in Germany, so even if the car arrives Friday at the dealership, I won't be able to pick it up before Wednesday next week...if I'm lucky. Another problem is the fact that the Cayenne is gone and we don't have a family car right now for next weekend. I am pretty sure my Mercedes dealer could give me a loaner but I don't want to. Kids will be highly disappointed once they find out, I already created so much excitement in them for this car and now? Oh boy...

I should have done factory pickup (as initially planned), then I could have picked up the car tomorrow at the factory. Smiley

Still having some hopes (pulled some strings, sales guy also tries to find a solution...) but right now, I'm not sure. Smiley

Sorry to hear that Christian. That sucks. I can imagine the disappointment. You’ll have to reschedule and plan something “even cooler” for this weekend so the kids can forget about the E63S running-in trip I’m sure it’s easier for the kids than it is for you indecision

I'm afraid someone else has high friends in high places, actually it was a buddy who has a direct contact at Mercedes. No surprise here, he owns a couple of AMG Mercedes (two SLR alone...) and gets a Project One as well.

I wish I could have helped him with his wish for a GT2 RS but... yes

Anyway, factory pickup on Thursday, can't wait. 😎

You'd think that, right? Unfortunately my car was scheduled for a next week(!) transport because they have certain routes and the truck for my dealership wasn't "full" yet. I was lucky I asked today about my car...

Thanks but it wasn't supposed to happen this way, so I'm a little bit disappointed (factory had enough time to "send" the car to dealership). I didn't really want a factory delivery because this means I loose almost a whole day and the Mercedes production isn't that interesting for me Smiley but now I am just happy I can pick up the car tomorrow, so I should shut up. Smiley

The kids are not that enthusiastic about the factory pickup. Daughter has her final school exams (Abitur, first three are already done, now two more in about two to three weeks) and my son cannot miss school on Thursday because he has an important test on Friday. Not sure my daughter is going to join me tomorrow, she kind of wants to come but not necessarily be ready at 6 am in the morning. Smiley Another problem is that she would need to sneak out without my son seeing her because if he finds out she joined me for the pickup and he couldn't... Smiley We'll see...

Also, tomorrow is going to be a lousy (rainy) day, so I'm not really in the mood for a factory visit and a 400 km trip. If it was the AMG factory, different story (I've been there before many many years ago) but Sindelfingen? Hmm... Smiley

Picked up the car today in Sindelfingen, had literally s shock when I saw it for the very first time in the pickup hall. Why? The car, especially the color, looks much better live than on photos or videos.

I am keeping the side decals... (when I park the car at the office, people can only see the back of the car Smiley ).

Actually, I wanted to delete that black side sticker (ordered the car with it, so I can see how it looks, it is a cost-free option for the Edition 1) but my kids and some friends who saw the car say I should keep it, also because it is unique to Edition 1 cars but I'm still not sure. We'l see...
