Correct. That is why I mentioned that they are "generally" mounted under ;-)

For aircraft like the hondajet, lift is not the main consideration though. Important items are cabin space, max speed and range. The cabin space is increased by moving the engines from the aft fuselage (like on for example the gulfstream). But mounting the engines under the wing would require for a very long undercarriage, so having them on top is a nice (albeit oddly-looking) compromise.
Max speed and range are not too much influenced by the position of the engines.

Long story short:
The convex surface of an aerofoil produces roughly 2 thirds of the lift/downforce, the concave shape only one third.

That is why with normal aeroplanes, the engines are traditionally mounted on the underside of the wing (amongst other reasons).

Now with wings on sportscars, they are inversed, so as not to give lift, but downforce. So, the convex surface is on the underside. It is the convex surface that you want to disturb the least, so that is why manufacturers looked for a way to have the attachments on the concave surface, the top side of the wing.

The swan necks will result in a bit more drag than traditional mounts, but since the main goal is downforce, this is often considered a worthy tradeoff.

I asked at Weissach why the top mounted wing on the RSR vs the bottom mounted wing on the new GT3R

Top mounted wing has less structural integrity, they flex more.

The difference being the RSR has a efferent mounting points for the top mounted wing because of the mid engine layout.

Works better for it than the GT3R with the bottom mounted wing.The downward pressure from the wing is applied at a different point on the chassis, so different results.

As for the title of this tread, I saw the car, it isn't confirmed or denied. All based on market acceptance.

But I can say it is a bad assed car, pretty much the very best out of Weissach for a since a long while, and that already included the GT2RS.

It's not about he ultimate fastest lap time, but more about the car itself.
