Sounds amazing... Not a F1 fan anymore but this could be different, especially since they are using regular roads for that, similar to Monaco. This will definitely raise Miami's international "perception", good for the city.

“From football and soccer to tennis and motorsports, Miami deserves only the best in music, food, art, fashion, and sports and entertainment, and that is exactly what we plan on delivering with a Formula 1 race,” Ross said.
Ross helped lead the plan to relocate the Miami Open tennis tournament from Key Biscayne to the Dolphins’ stadium complex in Miami Gardens, a move that will be enacted in time for next year’s tournament. He’s also brought several international soccer events to Hard Rock Stadium, which is seeking to host World Cup matches in 2026.
for the Miami haters, it is becoming one of THE prime areas in the world, hard to see it will ever go back to the crummy city it used to be... The only thing really missing especially in the context of this forum is an track of some sort closer to Miami. You have Homestead but it is far. If only they could create something similar to Monticelllo or Nick’s race track in Canada... In the global context of self driving cars and sport cars frowned upon, this would be a perfect, and you can drive the entire year...

I am pretty sure there are enough construction sites which could be used for that...

Leawood911:If I had a dollar for each F1 venue rumor. Lol. Not going to happen. Especially not a road race.
There seem to be serious talks about that...

My daughter is a city planner. Street courses are very difficult to arrange. Ask Monaco. I have heard this about NY and many other cities over the years. It was one of Bernie’s more amusing past times. Negotiations for races which never happened. Of course I could be wrong.

noone1:How many people who go to F1 weekends actually go for the race? I was under the impression that city courses are mainly just rich people partying since there really is nothing much to look at during a live race since you can't see anything.
Rich people never do or see anything. They just remain bored and listless so they spend lots of time online venting their displeasure at everyone who will listen.

SciFrog:City circuits are the best. Ever been to Montreal for F1 Weekend? I have done it 7 times... unreal.
I agree. If Miami can pull this off, this will certainly add to their reputation and future development.

Not exactly city circuit. If you were there you know this. They are not city streets. It is a race track on an island but yes it does the city good. Magic of f1

I beg to differ...

SciFrog:That area would be a fantastic place for a track. I can only imagine the line of yachts like in Monaco...
Yep. Bayside is really a good location...

Great news... Lewis Hamilton feels underwhelmed? Well, let's see how he is going to perform there.

I’m with Hamilton here. Do I like Miami? Yes. Do I like street circuits? Very much so. Will that area give good visual backdrops? For sure.. but will it provide an exciting race? Err. Two long straights would likely mean most overtakes done under DRS.. Exciting? Probably not. And a dull race is the last thing I want to see.
The drivers enjoy fun circuits, which are usually the old ones. They also provide interesting races. Why not consult them on the track layout if it might deliver a more interesting race? It would be in everyone’s best interest.
