    Re: Tesla Roadster

Kind of funny. The reality is that the largest shareholders probably don't care and aren't going to do anything about it. The modest drop indicated most shareholders don't care either.

    Re: Tesla Roadster

Options were anticipating a 8% move so there won’t be any panic selling unless it drops 12-15% or more.

In Muskian Utopia this means nothing either. As Musk Berates Analysts, VW Unleashes a Massive Counterpunch https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-05-03/as-musk-berates-analysts-vw-quietly-plots-massive-counter-punch

    Re: Tesla Roadster

Be careful here. Musk isn't stupid. He must be extremely confident that his company will survive. Otherwise, he wouldn't act the way he did on the conference call.

    Re: Tesla Roadster

Speaking as a former equity analyst, don't piss off your analysts by doing stupid things like that. RBC is one of his lead underwriters and only got into the syndicate on the last deal so he's not going to get huge pushback from Spak but most of the hard questions are coming from analysts that aren't going to get paid from IB fees. It's just not worth the trouble to be pissy on these calls.

Maybe Musk is trying to increase the short sellers position for the mother of all short squeezes just before the convertibles reset early next year. That would be genius.

As stated several times before, one has no economic interest, either way, in Tesla.  Listened to the earnings call and can honestly state that something is up with the company, not in a positive way.   Musk became edgy when asked specifics about the Model 3, namely uptake rate from those with deposits on the Model 3.  The executive team goes silent for a noticeable period of time before Musk snarkily retorts and goes to a YouTuber for the next round of questions.  He never answered the conversion question.   Seen this type of behavior before and it usually ends with a bad outcome.

...exactly...he isn't stupid, so maybe showing that much of confidence is actually part of his (clever) plan to convince investors that he (Musk) is convinced that Tesla survives. Smiley

Well, he is a genius, so why not? Let's see how this works out for him. Smiley

I'm no genius, so I'm staying out of this (his?) game.

Just like his self-proclaimed “revolution in manufacturing.”   Perhaps he’ll sell to his cult following replicas of his impotent Flufferbot, this is the name of a robot that couldn’t handle its tasks on the Model 3 line.  That should fill the coffers.

As genius as that might sound, it's rather improbable given that Elon Musk has pledged 13,774,897 of his Tesla shares (i.e. $3.8 billion at the current $276 share price) to secure certain personal indebtedness...

...if or when the Tesla share price falls, Elon Musk is obliged to provide additional shares as collateral to secure his personal loans.

Maybe he was just a little bit annoyed at the personal margin calls? Smiley

    Re: Tesla Roadster

Comment was fatuous but the personal indebtedness is interesting.  This creates the incentive for Musk to talk up the stock to limit his downside exposure.

Thus be careful. This guy is a survivor. He admitted to the automation faux pax but is convinced he has rectified the situation by adding people. Also, there is a recently filed credible two billion dollar patent infringement lawsuit against the company. He's juggling a lot of balls.Smiley

Maybe they'll have to raise capital, maybe the won't. Who knows? Either way, I really doubt they'll have issues raising capital.

Dilution would be an excellent thing to do given the rich valuation.

There are enough prior art issues to have this frivolous suit dismissed.

    Re: Tesla Roadster

Tesla deliver most EU cars last month each quarter and fewest the first month in each quarter. They normally deliver up to 70% of the cars sold that quarter the last month. Due to regional planning in the factory.

Not saying that the April figures are wrong, but they don't tell anything. Dig up the figure for March in Germany instead and you'll see something completely different. And you'll the a much higher figure in June 2018.Just sayin....

Look at the total units from January through April 2018, the comment remains correct, according to the table.

I always thought that Tesla will end up in bed with Mercedes but apparently...not.

Look what Starbucks is doing now in Europe with their off-the-shelf products since they didn't succeed by their own: They partnered up with Nestle. Good strategy. Smiley

There has been some recent press speculation...

However, any OEM that may potentially be interested is more likely to wait for a Chapter 11 restructuring to reduce the indebtedness (e.g. secured creditors agree a debt for equity swap to become the new shareholders) for a much simpler discussion (e.g. less ego involved) and a much stronger negotiating position for a buyer with strong liquidity and an established, efficient manufacturing base... Smiley
