Tracking a new car isn't a good idea because it takes time to get used to it... Smiley

    Sad. Smiley

    Christian,

Its just some guys refuse to stay within their capabilities limits. You know, they get the car and believe they've become ""bertie big bollocks"" overnight. Plus, these type have their friend besides them and feel the peer pressure to go faster.

As you say, learn the car first..Smiley..

In this case the word is there was oil on the track at the exit of a corner from another vehicle.  So not much this guy could do.  I give him props for being out there driving the car vs the majority of folks driving around Monaco at 5mph trying to show off or flip these for insane amounts.

Maybe that's true, maybe it's not.  It's always interesting to see how folks like to jump to conclusions and judge based on a single photo with zero context...ah the internet.

Oil?, maybe, maybe not. Main thing, he is okay and its just a car.

Yep, your car so choose to do whatever you want. Tracking is a risk and all trackers know that Smiley.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Exactly. When you go to the track you need to be ready to loose the entire value of the car, insurance or not...

I can imagine that even with insurance, there can always be some sort of loophole or lawsuit where they try to get away from paying...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Much better to see the GT2RS in that shape on a proper track than getting nailed on the street by a Prius or a Tesla.

Proper battle scars as they say, instead of a razor cut while shaving.

Not at the expense of a Porsche! I mean, I won't shed a tear if a Prius nailed a Kia, Hyundai, Seat, Peugeot, Citroen, Lada, etc.

    Call me an idiot.

I just turned down the offer to drive a GT2RS for a Spyder Circle event next month, and instead sticking to using my newly delivered Turbo S Exclusive.

Mitigating excuses will be the drive is not exciting enough, basically from Stuttgart to Zuffenhausen, then to Weissach. Road trips in the Black Forest and also visiting the Bugatti factory.

Had the trip consists of Alpine passes, then I would surely say yes.

When it’s braking it sounded a bit like the old gt3 r hybrid with its flywheel spooling up?  Testing a hybrid system, or electric turbo anti lag system.  Didn’t sound like a racing gearbox whine.

After thinking and digging for a while, I believe that's a car that Walliser was talking about when they introduced the GT34CS a couple years ago. A track day special. He talked about finding an untapped market when they received more than expected orders for the GT4CS.

It is not built to any racing standard, but a car that customers will keep at tracks for thrashing, for fun.

A production body, with race spec roll cage and equipments, but with production parts. Low maintenance track special. I suspect it will have the regular PDK-S, Turbo S engine, not he GT2 RS engine.

Perhaps 2700lbs, GT4CS was at 2800lbs, Cup car at 2600lbs. 580HP from the Turbo S engine is plenty enough. With GT3RS/GT2RS from fenders, no 100hrs engine rebuild nor 60 hrs transmission rebuilds. All along the line of the GT4CS.

Cheap for Porsche to built, cheap for customers to run.

At first they wanted customers to race the car, hence the initial batch was only sold to race teams. But half way through the production cycle anyone can buy one, just needed to ask the right person.

Most dealers in the world don't even know who to contact or how to order one. DIdn't help that PAG never step in to help out.

GT4CS was around US$220k with the MR package. Base one was US$180k  A Cup car was at almost US$300k.

If this is indeed a track special, expect it to be round US$250k.

Not much factory options on race cars, in the GT4CS it is mostly chasing whether to have air-con, and the sizeof the gas tank, and build in air jacks and racing seats, either Recaro or OMP.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

If that is indeed a customer track car, it won't have the GT2RS engine for sure! It would be a massacre of Porsche customers on track, they will drop like flies left an right.

The target audience are not pros, 700HP in a 2700lb car is just begging for trouble with slicks. On street tires the limits are lower and safer, with slicks the drivers will be going into corners a lot faster and slicks don't have gradual breakaways like street tires. The 3.8L Turbo or even Turbo S engine will be plenty fast enough.

A 4.0L from the GT3RS could work also, but those engines are not in big supply.

That must be the non-street legal version, though. I.e. not for road use.
