    Audi RS4 driving experience

    Hello chaps,

i will drop just few lines to underline my driving experience with an AUDI RS4 i tested yesterday evening in the quest for something to replace or put aside my 996TT.
The car was equipped with everything you can possibly fit on, even ceramic brakes and high thickness sealing windows since it was a return from the leasing of the local AUDI dealer's business director.
10000 km plus or minus on the ODO so a car in pretty mint condition.
I test drove it on both normal roads and motorway for about 45 min to an hour and the impression i got was really good.
First of all, compared to my 911 with sport suspension, is very soft and the ride is smoother since driving even at 130km/h is incredibly quiet.
The engine note is present only when you search for it over 4000 rpm but never gets too invasive or too loud even with the sport exhaust fitted in as i had on my car.
This can be considered really good from one side, the one that drives you towards the RS4 when you search for long journeys commuters, on the other reminds you what you lose when you jump out of a 911: involvement.
The throttle was very responsible and so the engine that i've found incredibly smooth from low revs till the redline. This is a plus for AUDI from my point of view even if the biggest change relative to the previous production cars is the steering wheel. I've found it more direct relative to the one of the S5 i test drove a while ago and way better then before.
The roll of the car in medium speed corners (80-120 km/h) was relatively small and setup firm enought to give you the idea you can push more.
Relative to the 911 is a lot less communicative but this is normal considering the limousine setup compared to the sportcar one.
Overall idea of the car? it did impress me good but it didn't strike me so would i consider it as an option?
I'm still asking myself but i'm still undecided since if from one side i love the calm, quiet, posed driving style on the other i miss the engine note, the strong power delivery and the steering wheel feel of the 911.

Ah last comment: ceramic brakes. You immediately feel they are there since the bite is different from the steel ones. Something like smoother and more gentle but at the same time more effective. Are they really a must? I would say is something that you notice in the car and in a very positive way so i would go for them.

Now i have to go back working
More comments and an open discussion with you later on.

    Cheers
    Silver

    Re: Audi RS4 driving experience

Hmmm - I was driving the Audi, too but I would rather consider the new M3 ahead to the Audi RS4.

Anyway - Ceramic Breaks are not a must but they have next to the performance the advantage that you never get dirty rims.

    have fun with your decision!

    Re: Audi RS4 driving experience

Well i have a test drive of the new M3 scheduled since a while so i'm just waiting the car to be ready to the dealer to do it.
I also think that the new M3 would be more fun but i'd like to test it since i think the AUDI could be more comfortable.
    What do you thnk Lars997?

Ceramic Brakes are not a MUST but are definitely something you notice and appreciate as far as you have them.
    You could live without

    Re: Audi RS4 driving experience

I had a very brief test drive of an RS4 with a modded chip and Remus exhaust pushing probably 440hp+. The car was very responsive and linear but the power did not impress me. It fealt slower than a 997s I had driven earlier. Nice engine note but the exhaust was not stock...

    Re: Audi RS4 driving experience

I had the same opinion as you can see trip.
Linear but power is not striking.
