    A few people were suggesting that the press cars may have possibly been 'souped' by Nissan to provide better performance figures. Guess this proves them wrong

    I wonder whether it's the same as with the BMW x35d, where the engine was detuned at the first service...

    hahha the "owner" was a NISSAN dealer, so its still a press car lol.

    Very impressive. However while the driver is holding down the "XYZ" button for several seconds at the traffic light the Prius will be at the next intersection

    I've said this a number of times. The way these magazines get the best numbers at the track is REALLY abusing the car. Would I do the same thing to my car to get the best time out of it? I highly doubt it. Example is with a Honda S2000. In order to get the best 0-60 time you should really hold the gas pedal to the floor and then dump the clutch. I would never do that in my own car.
    The GT-R has launch control. It too dumps the clutch after holding the engine at a certain RPM. Many times the car is limited to the number of times launch control can be activated and I'm sure on this car it'll be stored in the computer for the dealer to download.
    Still, even without the launch control they're getting 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. More realistic for most of us I'd think and still very fast.

    Read my post over launch control and how many times you can use it. I've just seen today a broken driveshaft due to an "[beep]" start. Max engine revs + clutch release....

    Every component on the car has got its own safety factor but things are not so much overdesign so to allow and infinite number of abused starts....just a few and then long term life decreases dramatically

    Job well done Nissan. Still not my kind of a car but I praise Nissan for it's performance

    Launch control is lunacy. Most LC cars require 5-10 seconds or more of electronic fiddling to gain 0.x seconds of acceleration.
