    C4 owners: feelings about your C4 in mid-winter?

    Now that we in the northern climes are about at the mid-point of winter, I'm interested if the C4 owners could share some thoughts about their choice of the 4 vs the 2... Lots of C4 vs C2 comparisons on this board seem to have been done from a pure driving/handling viewpoint in perfect conditions, but at least some C4 owners chose the awd because of the chance to enjoy their 911 12 months a year - so, how is that working out? (C4 owners whose view of winter is only higher winds on the palm trees can pass on this.. )

    To keep it to the shortest: I drive and enjoy my car in any road conditions.Not once did I have to keep the car in the garage because of the snow, ice, slush , on the roads

    I don't see the problem with rwd in winter. I will be out in mine shortly and it's -1F without wind chill. The only time it stays in is if the snow is more than 5" deep.

    Wha? Porsche owner conundrum in a nut shell. We're either neurotically freaky 'bout the next possible 'blemish' or we're ho=hummin the fact that us auto=cross freaks only get 6-8,000 mi on our tires.
    I'd personally rather change the oil than wash it. It's a little more fun to turn the "please save me" system off when you feel like steerin with your right foot.

    i agree with "Le Chef". I also take mine out no matter what the conditions are like..dont have to drive it through deep snow but everything else works PERFECTLY! with a C4S or Turbo i would even go skiing!

    I like winter. It's easier to go sideways.

    My C4 with Michelin Pilot Alpins is superb in the slop. My suspicion is that the RWD is quite capable too, but the lack of drama with the C4 is appealing to me.

    printemps: Your choice of worlds "but the lack of drama with the C4 is appealing to me." hits the spot.

    Here in the Northeast with the density of traffic the way it is, it's the sideways motion that the C4 reduces or eliminates that keeps my heart pulse rate down.

    Love my C4S in the winter. Why would you want a sports car that only works sometime in your life? Actually, the C2 is not bad in the winter, but I am using the word LOVE. Yet, I doubt you would be asking this question about other non-Porsche sports cars. Have had several Ferrari summer only sports cars. Nice but I like my car on the road and not in the garage. The reason Ferrari owners cannot not rate their cars in the winter vs summer is they have NEVER driven their cars enough to rate them in either climate other then in the garage. HA HA There is no question that the C4 and C4S (even the turbo) are the kings of the roads where I LIVE in any season.

    My winter car is an '86 Carrera with snow tires. AWD would be even better, but it really isn't needed except in conditions in which you shouldn't be out anyway.

    And if you've never driven your 911 in the snow, you must try it! Easily as much fun as a dry road.
