    Styling wise Aston wins by a galaxy mile. The body is like 14 years old but when it parked next to the new one, it still outshines the new one, or any other car for that matters.

     

     

    Its amazing how Astons can do this but this is very true. Unfortunately this seems lost in this new Vantage, don't think it will age well, it doesn't keep the Aston design philosophy and seems they tried too hard to make it look too modern and aggressive for some reason.

     

    The got the proportions just right with the Vantage platform. The bigger DB platform makes the car looks too long by comparison.

    I think it does not look too bad, it will probably grow on me further. The grey car looks much better. Not sure about the interior though.

    Hmmm...maybe this will grow on me. I do like the rear though. As a Vantage owner back in 2007 (I was like noone's age back then - wow!), I was hoping this one will be just as beautiful. Not to be. Maybe I will join Nick and pick up a V12 as a keeper!

    Its a reference back to the Classic Aston Martin cars, all of which up to a certain year had a Union Jack plate on the front side wing.   History...Smiley

     

    I was at the launch party in London on Tuesday evening hosted by Andy Palmer which covered the live stream of the Vantage GTE race car, was a very enjoyable night and I even got to sit in the GTE itself.

    The car is awesome in the flesh and so far no picture I have seen does it justice.   That said as much as I like it I have no intention of swapping in my n/a 7spd dogleg V12 monster for a V8 TT Automatic anytime soon, so a manual at least will have to appear before I get interested enough.  There will be future versions with more power (albeit I believe they will be V8's also, not the V12) and a manual gearbox.

    Oh and the Yellow press cars are Green - the colour is called Lime Essence. Smiley

    Hasn’t that always been the case? For example when I ordered mine more than 10 years ago I could have different leather and stitching on different parts of the car.

    I am not part of the target group, but to me... they definitely lost it! They were on a wonderful track with the introduction of the Vanquish and that generation, but they never managed to turn that design into a lasting design language. All they did was minute changes. Now they finally had the balls to come with a really fresh design, but it looks horrendous imho, and completely out of touch with their traditional target group. Aston Martin always had a special mix of performance and classy style. With this new model, they absolutely ditched the classy aspect if you ask me....

    Yes, there is quite some truth in it. The new one does not look bad per se, although some elements are not so easy to live with as on the previous car, but it certainly exposes less of that elegance you mentioned. Same thing on the interior, while a lot of elements are very charming some things just make it appear odd, much more than on the predecessor. That wiper/indicator switch sourced from Mercedes or the air vents with their undefined shape, for example.

    I think it's a good attempt at a slightly more unique/special/exotic AMG GT-C. It's not perfect, but good enough for what is it. Still much more interesting than a 911.

    And honestly, the new Mazda design direction is quite nice, so it's not really a bad thing.
