    Re: Porsche Cayman GT4 RS

I don't expect a massive price increase, but at least 10% (like GT3).  It's still 50-75hp less than GT3.  GT3 won't disappear, but it's already been reported that 992 GT3 will have ~550hp (so at least 100hp more than GT4).  GT3 might have a bit less than this power level if it stays NA, I guess.  But no need for concern - Porsche has this stuff planned out and they are masters at making every model fit in a tightly controlled price and performance window.

Nothing wrong here.  By the time the GT4 is released, the GT3 will be totally or nearly out of production (and the GT3 RS should have nothing to fear)...

    Re: Porsche Cayman GT4 RS

I think the pricing could be in the $120-125K range but at least in the US if supplies are limited then the dealer asking prices are going to be well into GT3 range. I would actually prefer a PDK GT4 w/ a detuned 4L motor to my .2 GT3 for a variety of reasons.  However I think that depending on supply and available options if a 4L GT4 sees the light of day it could potentially be a very difficult and pricey allocation to obtain.

That would be almost 50% increase - no way...  Last GT4 was $84,600.  I think starting under $100k (plus more for options).

Porsche likes to offer good value in the GT3 and GT4 and have more buyers than cars - can be annoying for customers sometimes, but Porsche likes this business model.

I would not be surprised to see some cost cutting going along with the "detuning".  For instance, with a lower redline they could replace the Titanium conrods with Steel ones.  This alone would be a considerable savings.  Probably some other things like this too...

The mistake wasn’t pricing the GT4 too low - the mistake was offering too few NA engine and Manual gearbox fun-to-drive and track-ready affordable alternatives which caused demand to swell for the GT4...

If the 991.1 GT3 had offered Manual or produced more 911R’s or other high powered Cayman/Boxster models, many GT4 buyers would have bought them instead.

There are many more alternatives in the 991.2 generation (GT3 Touring & Manual winged, Speedster, 911T, etc.) - pricing the GT4 50% higher will destroy the reason for that model (bringing new customers to the brand with attainable road/track excellence that is bulletproof with many laps.

Next R8...or Huracan...maybe even McLaren (if they get the sound close to the 488). Depends on pricing, I will look for a "bargain" on a weekend fun car.

I don't agree. Anyone could have bought a base manual 911 or even manual Cayman S for that. And we all know if GT4 had PDK they would have sold event more. GT4 was simply too cheap for the car they offered in the Porsche lineup, which made the car desirable so even cheaper to own as resale value stayed high. Don’t underestimate the power of a good deal, who doesn’t want to drive a car (ANY car for that matter) for almost free? Many people would compromise on a manual car vs PDK just because it is too much of a good deal...

Yes, it was probably a good timing. Although I must say that I enjoy the GTS more than the GT4. The GTS is a much more complete package and in Sport Plus mode as fun as the GT4. Anyway, something is not right. The Spyder clearly has a 4-cylinder turbo engine and the GT4 has got the same exhaust pipes as the Spyder. Those happen to look like the PSE exhaust pipes on the 991.2...

I will clearly miss this car but I cannot afford keeping it and the coming C63 S AMG Cab facelift. Smiley My wife loves the GTS as well (see photo, not sure if you can see it but she even had a pair of skis in the car) but my son refuses to be driven to school in the Porsche, so...
