    That sinking feeling.

After spending an hour catching up on the various Porsche forums I thought "Great, got a couple of hours to kill, I'll take the car out for a blat!" Started getting my shoes on when I suddenly remembered I dropped the car off at the OPC yesterday to be sold.

    <sigh>

Suppose I'll just go and read a book or do some paperwork or something.

New Turbo arrives on March 1st, it's going to be a long 7 weeks.

    Re: That sinking feeling.

Hey Throt! I've perked up now, I'm picking up a new Turbo soon FFS! I'm the luckiest man in the world!

Think I was just feeling sorry for meself because it was the first time I realised I was Porsche-less. Sort of hit me all of a sudden. Went out in the Pick-up and did some chores to take my mind of it.
I just read a post from Alex about snaking his Turbo through a wet corner and now I'm all giggly like a school girl, cannot wait for March!

I dropped off the C2s yesterday at Colchester, sorted out the docs and plate and stuff and then headed out to look over the car with my sales exec. I walk across the car park and I'm pointing and going "See, the rims are okay, they won't need much attention, and as you can see there aren't many stone-chips at all" as I'm circling the car smugly. Then my girlfriend goes "Err brad, that's not your car, yours is over there", I felt a right pratt!

    Been there, done that

I ended up selling my old Carrera earlier than planned as the depreciation clock was ticking very loudly. That meant I was Porscheless for several months. A very empty experience indeed - especially when the sun came out to play on a weekend afternoon

All I can say though is that the new Turbo will definitely be worth the wait. My Turbo cost me twice was I got back on my Carrera resale, but IMHO it is definitely twice the car. Only the exhaust noise is missing - easily fixed though with Pounds3k for a Tubi exhaust

    Re: That sinking feeling.

I had the same thing happen today and I am feeling very bluuuuueeee. Took my C4S to the Porsche Dealer two days ago to sell on consignment. My new 997TT gets built on 2/29 and s/b here in April. Today was an absolutely beautiful day in Seattle and I wanted to go for a drive in my Pcar and couldn't. So I drove down and looked at it on the display patio at the dealer which didn't help. The waiting is so hard!

    Re: That sinking feeling.

haha im sad too im getting my turbo repaired...every day goes by and I tghink about her. Well good news is when I get her back Im throwing some nice wheels, springs and painting the lower panels!

    Re: That sinking feeling.

Brad , thats a funny story , bud ...You must have been in ""Brad's World""..

Anyway,,2 hours ago I discovered that some f**ker has keyed my new X5,,jelousy,, its a sad thing..

    Take care , bud..

It would be much worse if we had good weather here so I do feel your loss :-)

Luckily Jan and Feb are really dingy months in England so I wouldn't have been driving it much anyway. I'm hoping for a nice bright, global-warmed summer that starts promptly on the 1st of March.

First 8 inches are deep then it goes on for about another 24 inches , the latter is on the surface..I will get it sorted though..

I look forward to your arrival on March 1st , I remember your C2S pick up with the PCM problems (am I correct??) , hope this is super smooth one for yu..

    Take care....

    Re: That sinking feeling.

Where did they do it? Was it in a car park or something?

Mate you have a very good memory! Yeah they had to replace the whole thing the morning I picked it up, left me sitting there for 2 hours while everybody else drove away smiling! Funny thing is though that is the only thing ever to go wrong with the car.

    brad

While I was writing this post I had a phone call. One of the young blokes who works for me had a day off today to take his driving test. He passed. He then went out in his car, tried to do a handbrake turn, smashed into the curb and tore the axle off. The car is written off, less than one hour after he passed his test.
I have 3 youngsters on the firm. The 20 year old has had 6 accidents (3 write offs) in 2 years, the 19 year old has had 3 accidents (all his fault) in 1 year and now the 18 year old writes off his car in 1 hour. WTF is wrong with young blokes today? I mean, sure, I drove a little wild when I was young but trying handbrake turns on your first ever solo drive???
I rang him and said "Was you driving like a c**t?" and totally seriously he said "Nah, I was just trying to do a handbrake turn."

    Words fail me.

I think they play too many computer games.

    Re: That sinking feeling.

LOL. We are all the same! I too got the blues in a bad BAD way between my 2 Porsches. I waited many months for 2008 model year and to this day second guess myself for doing that. When PAG announced, around the time of 2008 availabilty, that if you want PCCB you would have to wait further, I nearly sank into a depression. (The wait turned out to be one month.)

Time without a Porsche is indeed time lost.

    Re: That sinking feeling.

Brad , it was outside my house , I think it was my neighbour due to my extension work going on , you know the green eye monster brigade,,sad...

Yep,,the young drivers today seem to be very immature , they pass and instantly think there the bollox's , they dont even seem to learn either from passed mistakes , nevermind...

Take care mate and stay in touch......
