    I think the GTR drivers will really appreciate the edgy Audi front styling as it disappears in their rearview mirror...

    I think Audi is more brave than others being the first to attempt to
    make a true diesel supercar, looks very aggressive.

    That 2 tone crap didn't work on the bugatti and it doesn't work on the audi. It has a pleasing all-around shape, but they have way too many scoops and bits that make it look like a 25th anniv countach, tacky.

    Giant, heavy engine, giant powertrain, and even fuel consumption isn't that low as folks are used to with smaller diesels.

    Besides, engine rpm range is limited, so when driving with a bit longer ratios, don't expect "throttle response" like a proper sports car.

    The front is too aggressive for my taste, looks a bit aftermarket. Wheels are nasty too.

    However, Audi has really made something incredible!

    The presence of this car is quite spectacular, and definitely edgier than the normally aspirated R8, which looks elegant in comparison. I tried to get the model out of the way, but she convinced me to include her in the picture ;-)

    yes you are right, It's a 2 tone crap! looking like a cheap tuning car, whit a heavy engine, that has no low consumption. in europe diesel is even more expensive than regular fuel!

    Audi doesn't get it how to build sport cars.
    They have to reduce weight, not build super large power engines!

    Obviously there are certain disadvantages with the R8 and most probably ther will be with the TDI and the future V10, but what Audi have done so far is an achievement for a mass producer. Neither M-B nor BMW managed to build such a halo effect car for their ranges. AMG? SLR? M6? All inferior to the R8. It even beats or nearly beats most Porsches, the products of a very focused producer.

    Is it just me or does the car above look quite different to the normal R8 in the fin section below the front headlights? Looks a log edgier. (either than or it's because is almost 1am here )

    Only in Switzerland.
    In all other European countries, we have a trucking lobby that makes sure they can get away with ruining our air for cheap.

    The return on investment clearly favors increased power over reduced weight. Power sells and appeals to everyone. Reduced weight is divisive, as it implies trade-offs that make most customers go away - even on a sports car.

    It's not rational, but it works that way. That said, it might change if oil prices keep creeping up...
