Looks like embargo-breaking is the new internet sport 
230 kg is a lot, but I think you'll quickly forget that the first time you floor it in a tunnel with the top down
I doubt that the M-DCT M3 cab will "only" get to 100 kph in 5.3 sec, it has to be faster than that
(As a comparison the 335xi coupe with 6MT does it 5.4 sec)

I don't know, 230kilo is A LOT!
e.g. the difference between a 997s and cabrio 0-100 time is 0.4 (and they have a soft top..)
So this might be true!

So this might be true!
A more relevant comparison is btw the 335i coupe and cabriolet. The weight difference btw them is 210 kg and the 0-100kph time for the cab is 0.3 sec slower than the coupe.
So I guess that means that the 335i engine is better than the M3 engine and handling a weight increase if the M3 number is true
My guess is that the 5.3 sec time is for the manual gearbox, and that the M-DCT will be a tenth or two faster...

Exactly my thoughts - I wonder what is the max loading capacity - addition 4 people x 75 kgs you have another 300 kgs min so you might be over 2 tons.... for a 3-series...

New M-DCT(or M-DKG) is most advanced gearbox currently in the world. BMW just made an edge over competition. For example new M3 Coupe with M-DCT and M Drivers Package cost in Germany around Euro 90000(with Mwst.). For that money you simply can not buy faster or more advanced European sportscar or sport coupe/sedan IMHO.

For 90k I would never buy a M3.

For 90k I would never buy a M3.
In this case(since I do not agree with you) I have to ask what would you buy instead?
Cayman S??? Please, do not say Nissan GT-R since that car will be available in one year time...
For Euro 90K you get fully specd M3 Coupe with M Drivers Package(rumor is not 280km/h but, 295km/h top speed with M-DKG!) and M-DKG. Since M-DKG is the most advanced gearbox in the world currently I truly do not understand your point. For same Euro 90K you can get fully specd(same level as M3) manual Cayman S(without PCCBs).
I said European car. Maybe you missed that point?
If you said Vette Z06 then I could even agree with you.
