    RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

As the next issue of SportAuto will feature the Supertest of RUF's Rt12 I thought we might speculate a bit about this car's NBR and HHR lap times.

    My expectation (as per today):

    NBR ca. 7:35-7:40
    HHR ca. 1.11-1.13

    What do you guys think?

For clarification, I was assuming that the Rt12 that HvS will drive for the Supertest is RUF's 3.8L/650PS/RWD version of its Rt12. If not, then my guesses are moot.

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

I'm assuming they tested the 650hp version (4wdr std??).

Given its prodigious power/speed advantage and the Ring's long straights, it should be faster than a stock GT2 by a meaningful margin - 7:25-7:30. Basically, about 10 seconds faster.

IMO, HHR is too short/tight for these kinds of cars, where proper gearing probably means as much as outright HP does.

Correct with one exception: the Rt12 tested was AWD

Ring 7.40min... Or maybe I am wrong? Price of test RT12 was over Euro 280K.... For that money you can buy GT2(full specd Euro 210K in Germany) and Audi S5 as daily commuter...

IMHO RT12 is good choice only for RUF fans(or fanatics).

    Markus,

Do you have details of RUF's AWD transaxle? Is it anything similar to Porsche's 993TT or 996TT configurations? The AWD would add, say, 200-300 lbs. to the car's kerb weight? Either way, 650 Alois Ruf horses should be quick even in HvS's hands. H-heim with the heavier AWD might be tough, but I will still "go out on a limb" and say the car beats the 997GT2 time on the Ring.

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

    7:30 and 1:11.3 is my guess .

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

    7:32 - 7:35 for the ring.

That's true The Rt12 uses the 996TT AWD transaxle (with all the benefits). As a consequence, in corners/bends the car exhibits very smooth and linear oversteer as the throttle is applied progressively. An excellent and very reliable setup However, the extra weight is indeed close to 100kg...

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

Tuners are not going to like the GT2 as it hardly needs tuning, and it makes most frankensteins look irrelevant and/or overpriced. Even RUFs.

If - and only if - it has run-flat tires, it absolutely crushes Vette Z06 time of 7:42... We'll see. :-)

The comparable Z06 time is 7:49. (Sportauto did the Z06 Supertest last year.)

P.S.: My bet regarding tires used for the test would be Conti... At least that is the tire Ruf usually sells to customers.

Well, for starters, they could change the new manifold that relies on the expansion phase of resonance to a more traditional manifold that relies on compression, keep max boost at 1.4BAR, and get an additional 50HP or so.

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

    7:38.00
    1:11.00

    Re: RUF Rt12: SportAuto-Supertest

If RUF got the Michelin Pilot Sport certified for their short geared RT 12 version, then I'd expect for

    NBR: 7:36
    HHR: 1:10,1

    PS:
Dear Easter bunny: If I win this quiz, I'd desperately want to have this car with Tera Patrick as co-driver of course

Why? It's not a Ferrari that you would need extra airbags on the side .

In case of a side crash, every extra airbag, that protects your face/body, makes sense *ggg*

I said hardly 'needs' tuning. Of course the GT2 'could' be tuned and there are those who will always want MORE BHP

True, "need" and "want" become synonymous when I talk about these cars.
