    Advise/comment for 20k service

    I have scheduled MY06 for the 20k service next week. Anything I should look out and done for the 20k service? Thanks for all you comment.

    Did you also do the 2 year service? I only put 5K miles a year on the car so I hit that service first. I was told that even though I did the 2 year, that I will need to do the 20K mile service also, when that occurs. I am at over 17K miles now.

    As far as I'm aware the recommended service interval is 20,000 miles OR 2 years. In other words there is no 'annual' requirement.

    I had mine at 2 years (with 16,000 miles on the clock). The computer was then re-set to warn again following a further 20,000 miles OR 2 years.

    Alan - At 5,000 miles a year you will have had your first (2-year) service at 10,000 miles. They are right in saying that you will need another at 20,000 miles as that will be four years i.e. your second '2-year' service.

    Stephenkng - Seems to me you had your first service too early. Worth checking....

    The second service is a bigger and more expensive one so, if you do have it done, make sure they check all the boxes.

    I'd get them to check the RMS - mine needed changing at 20k.

    John H, most local dealer recommands an annual oil service. After that, a 20k/2 year service. When I said annual service, what I mean was the oil/filter service. I believe doing an oil service once a year is reasonable.

    By "oil/filter sevice" are you saying just an oil and filter change or is there something else involved that your dealer is recommending over Porsche's scheduled? Thanks.

    They recommend oil/filter service on a annual basis. 20k/2year service whichever is earlier. At the 20k, I believe they also recommend fluid flash as well. Of course, tire changes if needed in between I guess.

    Thanks. It sounds like I'm safe. Driving about 8-9000 miles per year, on the odd years I'll change the oil and filter in my own driveway. On the even years I'll get the dealer service.

    Changing oil at a one year interval is a good practice for any car, without regard to mileage. Current practice for Porsches also calls for replacing brake fluid at a two year interval to maintain performance. Why be cheap on a high dollar, high performance & collectible car? It makes little sense.
