    Re: Accident in my Turbo

Another way to look at it:

    Runways have stop signs.

If a taxi-ing plane goes thru stop sign and the landing plane hits it (assuming the Tower didn't mess up) who is at fault?

Same rule with streets (unless extraordinary circumstances like oncoming guy is drunk or was obviously speeding excessively.

YES! You can do that and at least the first few times you'll be considered "innocent."

Would take obvious evidence from eye witnesses and other sources to prove you intended to T-bone the car at the stop sign.

Ok, I'll shut up now. I'm very sorry PandaMan.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

No its ok I m just looking to get it back on the streets.

I'll worry about depreciation coem time to trade it in for a 998 turbo.

    THats life I guess.

Nah..., as long as the alignment can be brought back to spec the paint job looks nice and consistent and the body panel gaps are the same don't be too concerned. If you do a trade in for a 998 (!?) you're probably gonna get screwed in any case (I (we?) know from personal experience).

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

Anyone catch that this was a residential street? Assuming that the limits are similar in Canada as the US, it would mean the guy should have traveling ~35mph. Plenty of time to slow down. I'm on your side PandaMan. I can't tell you the number of times that I've seen people ignore the car pulling out or witnessed this myself as I felt the car go by my rear.

I'm getting ready to buy my first Turbo and the only thing giving me pause is this kind of experience. I figure that the one benefit to a turbo is that I can get out of the way a lot faster then the other guy can probably hit me...

Turbo is in it's element on the interstate or rural highways. I drive it with much confidence there.

In residential or city driving? I become totally opposite; like a defensive wimp I give all other drivers _lots_ of time and space. The car is small (hard to see), expensive, suspension-challenged (lots of potholes/bumps) and sometimes makes people aggressive probably because "a 'rich' guy is driving it."

    No problem.

LOL. Funny huh? Most times (not all ) I feel like I'm driving a really nice VW Beetle around town and then the thing turns into a friggin' monster when it gets a grip on an expressway onramp.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

    Just a few questions:-

    Were there any witnesses?

Did you or the other driver have passengers?

What was the other driver's attitude toward you?

Did either of you accept any blame at the scene and were your statements witnessed?

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

    Hi John,

    No witnesses

    I had a passenger

Other than looking like a tool his attitude was quite calm

No I didnt accept any blame.

I already saw my adjuster she said it will be 100% my fault as I had the stop sign and ICBC goes by certain rules.
I can bring in a third party to dispute if I choose too which I will.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

So you (and your 'only witness' passenger) COULD say that, being dark/dusk, the other driver didn't have his lights on whereas you did.

Also, to spin you a full 360 degrees, his speed must have been in excess of the limit.

Given his calm demeanour, I think we can rule out hitting you deliberately - The act would have been continued by a spate of ranting if that was the case.

More likely to have been a lack of concentration for whatever reason...?

    Good luck.

Hummmm..., verrrry interesting. He hit your rear quarter! That's where all the weight is and he spun you out anyway. Then again it doesn't seem to take much. Ever see that "PIT" maneuver on "Car Chase TV?"

    Awful.., simply awful.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

what kinda car was it??? maybe you missed seeing him cause it just seems like he didnt see you. HOW long were his skid marks??? this will tell speed. it was at dusk which it the hardest time to see due to all the colours n stuff... accident s during dusk/dawn are very common due to this fact!

all the luck to you. Im from Vancouver myself, and will tell you ICBC is not fun to try to work/claims with. i havent had any accidents (knock on wood) but friends of mine, without being at fault have had to pay up... its sad.
BUT fight it and make the claim!

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

No comment on fault - that has been debated to death (bad choice of words) here. Just glad nobody was hurt. Having been through repairing a Porsche, do a thorough investigation on the qualifications of the repair shop you are using.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

    Should I seek legal action?

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

it was not all way stop, you have to stop and make sure noone is coming. It WILL be your fault. Snice you were crossing a main road and it is YOU who had to STOP, I dont see his fault.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

I think maybe he means legal representation, in case the other party decides to do something.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

Document the whole thing while it's clear in your mind, including your passenger's statement.

No need to pay a Lawyer if you don't have to...

Just get all the facts clear in case you need to see one in the future.

    Re: Accident in my Turbo

What vehicle was the other person driving?
