Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Ron: What is that pic ? Is it a Panamera interior shot ?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    I believe so.

    Panamera

The interior shot shows a 1/4 light which you don't see on any current production Porsche

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Dealer told me to take a hike. I've since decided that the cost to buy, trade and buy again would be pretty close to the cost of a Turbo so I'm going to see what I can get. Having to travel over 1000 miles to get one (slots are sold out in my area till 2009) but think that it is worth it.

thanks to all for the advise. Cheers

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

if there are no paddles, i believe its mainly the stick that will be used to shift and the tiptronic buttons are on the wheel as an alternative method.

it could also be due to the nature of dsg that it is not as shift intensive as the f1 tranny. its just a better and more efficient design in auto mode. virtually no shift lag.

most probably dsg will be introduced in the NA models first and in the turbo models when it can handle the torque of theses enines...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Regarding waiting for the facelift:

I started looking seriously för 997's in Sep 2006. I spent months single-stepping the process of selecting opions, color etc etc. Then I realized I'd had to wait 6 months for the special paint I selected. That would mean losing a summer. And as I concluded: Losing a year of my life, being stuck with the dreams.

I went to the dealer spotted a new 997. The specs were good, but not what I'd selected myself. I told myself I was about to lose a year. So I bought it & have had loads of fun with it since.

Now I *really* know what's important and what's not. The next Porsche I buy will be a very comfortable decision.

So: Consider just buying one & getting on with life. Yes, you'll lose money. But you will not lose another year.

    Well: If you drive safely...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Well put Fredar. We all need to remember life is short. Enjoy it today. Why wait for something you may not be here for. Buy one now...You can always upgrade.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Agreed Fredar. I ended up buying an 08 Turbo from a dealer who had one in stock. Colors weren't what I originally wanted (GT silver vs. Atlas Grey) and didn't have all of the options but a nice car regardless. I plan to have fun and enjoy the winter, spring and summer before baby #3 comes along. My moto: if it isn't raining then the top should be down

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Well said Fredar!

Same decision I took last summer and got a new 997 Convertible. The car is great and pure fun.

You cant buy an extra year of your life but you can always buy another Porsche!

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Since the facelift won't be coming out until MY 2009 does that mean that the 997 will have a 7 year lifecycle opposed to a 6 year like the 996 (which had its facelift after 3 years and not 4)????

996 was 1998 (US) to 2001 (4 production years) before facelift in 2002.

No, there was no Model Year 1998 for 996 (still 993) in USA.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Indeed, Porsche extended the 997 running time until 2011. One of my neighbours is a part supplier and he told me half a year ago, that Porsche extended the contracts for one year.

    That's good news for 997-facelift-buyers.

But not good news for those of us who want to see the 998

If the 998 can get down to 1890lbs then it will be well worth the weight...

Sorry.......not sure what I was thinking...there was 2 years between 986 intro and 996. Thanks for correction.

Never seen before. Are there any more photos of that car?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

A lack of standard options is always a good thing; some enjoy the drive and do not need the extra fluff. Besides, Porsche, and most car manufacturers need to keep their weight down as much as possible anyway.

However, they should offer the current latest and greatest techno gadgets for those who want them. It would be silly not to have the option.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Made an interesting discovery the other day whilst driving to one of my favourite mountain passes here in Cape Town.

On my way to the pass i saw a couple of facelift 997's and turbos with german plates and german drivers parked off.

The interesting part was that there were two Audi R8's driving in the same convoy so it looks like they were on their way to test the 997's against the R8 on this mountain pass.

Managed to sneak a few shots but as soon as i stopped off they got into their cars and sped off!

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Apologise for the poor quality

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Never managed get the R8's as i had to sneak the shots from behind when they were not looking and the R8's were parked in front of the pack.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

woa thanks, those are really good shots!! seems like they're testing the whole 911 range..

I SEE A MIDDLE STRIP!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG you guys are going to LOVE it.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

beautiful pics STIG, I can see the strips too. Definitely it must be there for a reason

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!
