    TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

I knew I would know what wheels to put on my cab when I saw them....................

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

    Meh~

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

    Not bad

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

Very Nice. Are you going to do 19's or 20's? Would love to see a pic. on the car.

Any word on the cost of that wheel yet? Or weight? How about finishes, that one looks like a dark chrome.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

    ickkkkkkkkkkk

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

Eh..., Techart wheels bother me a little because they are kinda heavy-looking and flambouyant and seem to compete for attention with the beautiful lines and curves of the car's body. These new ones you refer to (Techart III), for the Turbo, might be fine, but they still have that Techart "trademark" curve to them. Pic below shows trademark curve I'm referring to)

    Just my two cents.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

I don't think it'll go with the lines of the car.
Give me some classic gold mesh, deep lip BBS's GT rims anyday.

Actually, I think the standard five spoke on the Carrera S rims look great. Too bad the depth and offset are too narrow for the Turbo.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

Definitley the 20's....no reason to change rims if I stayed with the 19's. Plus according the site they will have the wide widths available also. Rear wheels will be 20 X 12....to fit the 335 width tires. That will give the car a nice aggressive look. As for weight they said it will be 20% lighter than the factory rims...don't know about cost or other colors yet. These won't be available until this December.

I've always loved the way the TechArt's looked. Hopefully you're getting PCCB's?

For my ordered Turbo Cabrio. I'm going after-market wheels, exhaust, airbox. But I'm still undecided if I should go w/ 19's or 20's. Part of me says stick w/ stock size but another side agrees w/ your logic.. Are you going to use your turbo cabrio everyday or is going to be more a weekend car?

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

    Yikes! 20s!

Then again I figured we'd hear more horror stories about smashed or bent wheels and/or suspensions on mere 19s by now.

    Go for it.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

I like them. Seems like the offspring of the turbo and GT3 wheels, with a little bit of Gallardo in it.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

Never been a fan of techart's heavy wheels. not my taste in styling either.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

I'm going with the PCCB's....it will be a weekend car so the stiffer ride of the 20's will be more "appreciated." I'm also going to go with either the Tubi or AWE exhaust...I wanted to go with the TechArt exhaust but from what I understand it is VERY loud....but I think I will still use the TechArt exhaust tips. As for an airbox what do you recommend? Also, do you have any preference on the exhaust?

RE: - PCCB's - Good choice. IMO after-market wheels don't look right w/ the standard iron brakes.

RE: 19's vs 20's - That's why I asked/ Would you still go w/ the 20's if you were going to be using the car everyday? I can't make up my mind. If there is anyone here that has tried both 19's & 20's would appreciate your feedback on how different the ride is. Is it very noticeable? I'd like to go 20's & get the wider tires too but I don't want to ruin the everyday friendly use of the car, it is going to be the car I drive almost everyday & a big part of why I'm getting a 997 turbo cab vs. say a Gallardo Spyder, I really like it's everyday use, super car type performance capabilities. I've always wondered do the 997 turbo systems still work the same w/ 20's? The traction management , LSD etc?

RE: TIPS - You like the TechArt tips better than the Fabspeed ones?

Plus since we're getting Cabs the exhaust is already going to sound louder than w/ a coupe. Below is a link to the AIRBOX I'm buying from Champion/ Werks, I like the idea of a better breathing exhaust combined w/ better air intake. My car is going to be loaded w/ Carbon Fiber inside so this CF airbox will be perfect. It's pricey ($3500) but hopefully will be worth it.

    Click "AIRBOX":
    http://www.championmotorsport.com/werks1/

If you go w/ "tubi" you can order the exhaust & airbox from those guys too. I'm also considering the tubi..Wonder if anyone here has installed it on their car?

When do you expect your Cabrio?

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

I'm supposed to have it late spring/early summer. As for the airbox I saw the same thing on the Champion website. I like the power gains with the exhaust....so I think it is a no brainer. I think the Tubi tips are just like the Fabspeed right????

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

    Nice Wheel

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

That pics been out for so long now when will we be able to see it on a 997 turbo?

Before you start putting extra large tires on be sure to research the proper front to rear sizing differential that you'll need for the AWD.

Agreed, it's very important that you get the right size. I know of one fellow who put on tires with different aspect ratios between the front/rear and he ended up cooking his front differential as a result. Warranty did NOT cover that.

Re: TechArt III - NEW WHEEL!!!

Nasty looking wheel and perhaps heavy too
