But the design is unique for sure, BMW reversed the intake and exhaust sides, with the exhaust opening into the V and the intake moves to the conventional exhaust location.
This makes sense in the thermal department as heat is localized at the top where it's easily dissipated and it keeps the intake at a cooler location. However, this configuration also raises the cg of the engine, with the deep oil pickup this engine looks to be a lot taller than the NA version, how it's gonna affect the handling of the car is still to be seen.
The tall engine will also poses problems in fitments in the 5 and 7 series, with EU requiring bigger buffers between hood and engine this will raises the hood even more.
