    Tooki

I just had a Nav-TV "Tooki" bluetooth phone unit put in my 2008 turbo. This is the thing that uses all the factory standard buttons but has bluetooth linking. It works great (but is expensive -- $800 or so).

I have nothing to do with the manufacturer, the installer or anyone who would profit from this device. Merely a user.

    Re: Tooki

Does it allow you to watch TV through the nav unit? if not is there a way which this can be done, and also a way of playing DVD's through the tv - even if it involves an external player?

    Re: Tooki

No, the Tooki is purely the phone blue tooth hookup. Nav TV does have hook ups to allow you us the nav screen to watch TV and DVDs, though I have no reason as to why you want it in any car other than an SUV.

    Re: Tooki

Although i dont do many miles, i spend a lot of time in the car, a lot of which is either slow moving or stationary, so would be useful to be able to kill time..

Also would be a great way to keep the mrs quiet on longer journeys!

    Re: Tooki

just picked up a Turbo Cab today. My sale person and the service manger were VERY against adding these items. They mewntione dNav-TV by name and said NOT to mees with the electronics as they have had numerous issues already. Just an FYI, I was disapponted because i wanted these items but not now,

    Thanks-

    Re: Tooki

Has anyone else here installed one of these items and had any sort of problems with them?

Also any idea of any plans for Porsche to add bluetooth to it's cars in the near future? I have a May/June 2008 build date, so wondering if there's a chance of it being added.

    Re: Tooki

Rick, I'm not sure why your service manager/salesperson were so against using these. FYI, the Tooki uses the OEM phone module from Porsche modified to accept Bluetooth connections. Mine works great with my Blackberry Curve. I've heard that there's issues however in getting these to work with Windows Mobile phones.

    Atomic80,
It's been awhile since I've been on the board. I now have about 4K miles on my cobalt TT. On prior carrera's I had the PCM package including the multifunctional steering wheel. All in all performance was pretty disappointing. Functionally the PCM paled in comparison to most of the German and Japanese cars I've owned. Don't get me wrong I love my TT and wouldn't give it up for these concerns.

With that said, I was determined to go after market on my new TT for phone, satellite and ipod features. So far most of the options I have researched have compromises. I've looked at Nav-TV and Dennison units. I got to believe that some new units with better integration are on the horizon. Ideally, I like to be able to have the satellite integrate like the Cayenne unit did and the phone have better noise cancellation and voice recognition. Actually I can't believe that Porsche hasn't worked this out already.

The Tooki unit is a step up but I'm wondering if anyone knows more about what's to come? Also think iphone.

    Re: Tooki

    Ksurg,

I think you'll like the Tooki very much so especially with the iPhone. the Tooki allows you to use all the features of the telephone module directly through the PCM so it's at least in the right direction. It comes with a noise cancelling microphone which also works well. I have the Dension iPod unit which takes care of the music needs. They both work fine separately from one another.

    Re: Tooki

    Atomic80,
Good to hear the Tooki works so well. One way or another I've got to do something before July as hands free will be the law in California.
