Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

What a gorgeous looking car. The color matching between the painted rocker and lips, the stunning wheels , and the car is TOO PERFECT!! And THEN the yellow brakes. Hmm hmm hmm. Congrats, again.

Alex, those wheels make all the difference. I never truly liked the normal TT wheels but your wheels are just out of this world. They make your car look so much more sporty. Superb choice.

I agree. I normally like to keep things stock, but those wheels are fantastic.

    Cheers

Yes they certainly do fit the lines of the car much better. The colour matches the car colour too perfectly.

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

And best of all... she drives as good as she looks!!

I will have to take some more pics of the inside too as the alu air vents and alu gearstick/handbrake look spectacular.

I already did auto level/colour/contrast in Photoshop before I posted.

I removed alot of clutter and debris in the background and pavement. As far as showing off the car is concered the clutter removal makes a huge difference.

You can see ___BOTH___ before and after photos in the comp. right?

Anyway: car looks muuuuch better IMO. I do it to my beauty shots of my car all the time.

    Anyway, your _car_ looks great!

Here's a small repost of before and after:

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

Nice work, SO good that it looks invisible

Sorry, when I look at my pictures I ONLY see the car I am so smitten

LOL. Yeah I know the feeling. You should take the therapeutic remedy for the affliction: drive to scenic locations just to photograph your car.

OOPS! Forgot to mention: gorgeous wheels!! WOW

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

MMD, great job with the photoshopping. BTW, I very much agree with your "wheel analysis" that you posted somewhere. The OEM wheel has these straight slats that call too much attention to themselves and don't agree with the rounded lines of the car.

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

I'll play along. Here's mine, Slate with Black.

Yeah! Mine is too: great choice (IM_H_O!) BTW, Doncha just love how the wheel's color almost matches BOTH body color and the brake dust; looks great and is soooo easy to keep looking good! I was ecstatic to discover that one day! I figured "at last Porsche (and I ) got it _right_!"

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

Yeah, it's great the way the wheels (and brake dust ) match the body color.

Everytime I look at the car, my heart races a bit and I think to myself, dang, that's a great looking car. I love it.

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

Cannga you are the man thanks bud, do you have the same wheels on your car?

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

You are welcome. Nope, don't have the PG7; I am founder of the HRE P40 club . (It's a miracle HRE hasn't comp'ed me yet for my effort.)

FWIW, I've probably seen ALL available wheels; for wheels without lips, the HRE P40, PES PG7, and Champion would be my top 3 choices for (reasonable) cost, quality, weight, and look.

Pic of my car is at beginning of thread and here:

Cannga your wheels are beautiful but cleaning them is difficult

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

I think it'd be worth it. I love those P40s. They're sex on wheels.

Thanks. You are correct about cleaning; more work but really, it's not difficult at all. Very manageable. Plus it feels so mmm mmm good to *gently* run my fingers along those curvaceous slender spokes during cleaning.

Kidding aside, don't hesitate if you like the look. It is really not difficult and much, much, more than worth the effort. Way up there as far as being one of my most favorite things about the car.

Jason, thanks for the good laugh.

    Happy Holidays,
    Can

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

Bill the black centered GP7's look really sharp. Cannga if the P40's were out when I was in the market I would have probably gone that route. They look sooo sweeeeet!

    I like 'em too.

They have a Porsche precedent (blk spokes & polished rims) which is icing on cake.

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

    Know the feeling!!

However, I cannot concur yet with 'not difficult at all' to clean.

As the brake disks are so big there is barely any room between the inner wheel and the brake disk. This makes cleaning a real PITA.

I haven't found a long enough and flat enough wheel brush that can get to those hard to reach parts normally coated in a brown/grey coating for the OEM wheels.

Another pic at a slightly different angle than before:

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

I don't know that the clearance issue is much better with the OEM wheels. But In my opinion these are the nicest I've seen yet. These are on my need to have list for sure. Thay are stunning.

These (or ones similar) will work they're like 14 inches long. You can bend the tips too. Get several

They are fantastic looking. I would love to see one on a blk/blk 997TT. When I order mine, I would seriously consider these wheels.

Mine is black and I am lusting after these wheels

Re: Post pictures of 997 Turbos.

    MMD,

Is this what you use too? It's the exact same brush that I would recommend for the wheel well, the key being the long length of 15 inches plus. I got mines, both types, from here:

Yep but on stock tt wheels.

I also get those foam sponges, the ones the size of bricks and cut them on my band saw to various shapes and then jam a dowel into them (with hot glue) and use them for parts of certain wheels.

Works really well for my M3 wheels.

Be very careful with these types of brushes with a wire stem. I messed up a very nice set of wheels when it made contact with the metal rim, and scratched them terribly. Boy was I pissed! Swore never to use that type again.
