Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

I wish I could help, I really do. Good luck with the sale.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

I just spoke to my dealer today about a GT3 and they can't get anymore. Apparently Porsche is finished with the 997 GT3... you shouldn't have much trouble finding a new home for it.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

Great car you have there, but they are only finished with the 08 GT3, which was a shortened run. The 09 is rumored to be the Mark 2 with DFI and possibly an optional DSG type tranny.

P.S. I just re-ordered some Kona Cafe brand coffee -- picked some up last time I was on the Big Island and just ran out. The Mauna Lani -- ahh...

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

In this economy, realistically you'll probably have to drop your drawers a bit. If you're not getting any offers then that's proof. Either that or let the dealer sell it.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

I am getting lots of calls and some from "very interested" prospects. There is no price in my ad in the newspaper. Some prospects when they hear even the sticker price, $127,000 lose interest. That's ok. I'd love to keep the car, which I will do if I can't recover my costs in a sale.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

Just keep it if you can afford to. Have it shipped to where you're going. Better that then accepting less

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

Or you might be able to make even more later when you get back, seeing as it will be harder and harder to find low mileage beauties such as yours.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

    Any luck selling the car?

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

    Good luck from my side

That's right, the new one is hitting the mk1 sale.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

It's a beautiful car and I wish you luck selling it - you should be able to find a buyer but I seldom hear of people recovering their costs when they sell a car - not many autos are appreciating assets...unless of course you bought it at a discount.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

The car is gone. A buyer from New York is shipping it 5,000 miles, over ocean and over land. I dropped it at the boat last Friday.

    Bye Bye GT3!

I'm not sad, but actually looking forward to seeing the facelift 997s when I return from my trip. It's exciting to have that empty spot in my garage and hope that it will be filled by another Porsche in the months ahead.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

Man these cars are so cheep in the us, at these USD rates.

    congratulation for the sale.

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

Let's face it. Porsche is raping the the EU on pricing. How is it that the GT3 can be priced so much cheaper in the USA than the EU? They have plenty of margin.

They are demanding high prices and you stupid fools are willing to pay it. In the States, they can't forcethe high prices because their volume is too high. Porsches aren't special. Hell, they sell more SUVs than sports cars!

Re: GT3 - Still looking for a good home

With the dollar declining against the Euro, it seems Porsche will have to raise prices sooner or later in the US. They have already, or will soon, DROP prices in Canada, because I guess the Canadian dollar is doing better than the American.

Yes, the US is a huge market for Porsches, which are considered very special cars here, like none other.

I'm not so sure that Porsche is to blame for the higher cost of it's cars in the EU .
Any more than the Oil Companies are to blame for gas prices that are ~ 4 times higher .

I think the consumer "raping " is done by the EU Socialist Governments with TAXES , bordering on extortion .

The Europeans aren't "stupid fools " for their willingness to pay high prices to Porsche et.al.
They are stupid fools for voting in Socialist Governments .

Not that I feel sorry for them. After all, you "get what you vote for "
(something we should remember at our next Election ) Lol

Porsche has already dropped their prices in Canada. The will be down an average of 10% for the 2008 models. (Less discount for the Cayenne, more for the 911's.)
