    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

    That is very intense.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

WOW , it looked good too . Black would be the way to go though...

    Thanks , Ron...

If that data is accurate I am wondering how long will gearbox and drivetrain last in GT-R? With that kind of mechanical tension not too long IMHO...

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

    Fast car indeed

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Very very impressive, the car is growing on me... Even the looks are.

Have to agree with Kreso though that the tranny is not going to last long with too many launches... Its been a bit of a trend on the high performance cars of late (599, Turbo, GT2 etc) but do we have any idea how many times you can use these things before frying you car?

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

On BMW M3 M5 and M6 is maximum 10 times...Then the gearbox is on the way to be changed. I would really check how many times a car has been control launched for example before buying it second hand.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Holy cow, that car takes off like it's launched off a carrier

    Thanks Ron

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Thank you for the great video Ron.

    GT-R is supreme.
Just think, the GT-R brakes in the same distance as the 997tt using steel brakes as opposed to
    the 997tt using ceramic brakes!!
Handles at higher speed and accelerates much faster.

Incredible from a 4 seat car with a large boot that is 180kg heavier than the 997tt.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

    Way to go.

Don't forget this is just the entry basic model GT-R.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

There are a couple threads around with dyno runs showing early GT-Rs producing way more horse power than advertised. This was a Japanese tradition due to laws preventing high horsepower cars or something like Germany's 155 mph agreement I believe. I just hope that this is actually a normal practice that will continue and not just hopped up press cars.

997T will obviously do better if it's the same power with GT-R.GT-r has 100more hp over 997T
997T doesn't have launch control system and Double-Clutch gearbox

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Lemme have it! Will they even sell it in Europe and US?

Brake disc material does not affect stopping time. If the brakes are strong enough to engage ABS, then there is no benefit making them stronger for a single stop. It only helps after MANY stops like on a racetrack.

BTW, the Brembos on the GT-R are the biggest and most serious Steels I have ever seen on a stock road car. The wheels are 20", so they're even bigger than they look at first glance. Supposedly, it costs many thousands of $$$ for a complete brake job on the GT-R...

Isn't that why Ferrari and BMW were so hesitant to bring LC into the US mkt models or limit their use significantly because of warranty concerns?
I don't think ANY car's OEM drivetrain would last long if it's owner played with LC constantly. ( or a manual tranny 997 Turbo driver sidestepping the clutch twice a day on the way to work, for that matter)

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

This thing moves. Because of the low price many rich parents will buy this car for their kids. As it is you have know idea how many kids in their highly modified hondas and acuras chase my 997tt and try to challenge me. Can you imagine what they will do in the GTR?

Yeah, and just think about the aftermarket upgrades for this car. I bet they'll sell bigger turbos and ECU flashes for over 800hp...

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

I wonder how Car and Driver will manage to put the Corvette on top of the Sports Car of the Year list now? Skewing the results by awarding a ton of points for being cheaper than the better cars is out of the question now.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

By the way, I imagine the car will put up much better numbers when they put the tires on properly!

    Tire Size (front): 285/35ZRF20 (100Y) R
    Tire Size (rear): 255/40ZRF20 (97Y) F

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

    Suzuka laptime right here!

What difference does it make? As long as the price is the same, the customer benefits.

This car is amazing regardless of how you define it. I wrote about a year ago that once the Japanese enter the market of high performance cars, the landscape will change for Europeans car manufacturers. Either they step up or they will pay the price.

Automobile magazine has a good write up on the car and its specifications. Apparently it is equipped witha tamper proof black box which will give a lot of information regarding speed, mods and other stuff many car enthusiast would not want manufacturers or police to know.

You are right, look what happened with the hi-performance bikes market.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Sorry Nick but, you did not drive new GT-R and your claim that car is amazing is pure speculation influenced by car press(specially USA car press).

What if I told you that GT-R will not achive 7.38min on the Ring as Nissan claimed in press release?

Do you really belive that car with 480hp and weight of 1750kg is faster on any track(and in straight line acceleration) then Porsche 997 GT2 or Ferrari F430 Scuderia?

If you do then buy GT-R when it becomes available in USA.

Car press hysteria over GT-R is little bit too loud for my taste...

I believe Car and Driver tested a 997tt tip 0-60 in 3.2 and 3.4 seconds with the manual. Considering these press gtr's have something like 560+ flywheel horsepower, I wouldn't call them faster than the TT.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Well, if anything, the one thing we can all look forward to is the response from Porsche and Ferrari to this car and it's supposed raising-of-the-bar. I'm a bit skeptical that Porsche will make much of it at first, unless their sales are negatively impacted though.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

I am very impressed with the Suzuka laptime.

Porsche GT 612 hp, curb weight 1380. Laptime: 2:28.42

    Nissan GT-R 480 hp, curb weight 1780. Laptime: 2:22.8!

That is over 5.5 seconds faster than the fastest ever Porsche.

I somehow doubt these numbers. Not that they were not achieved, but definitely not with a stock car. The CGT is 500 kilos lighter and with it having 600 bhp, I can hardly believe the Nissan didn't have a lot more than 600 bhp under the hood.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

That cgt lap time is either from a day where the circuit was wet or the driver can't handle the car. Look at the lap times for the F40 and F50, 2:25.26 and 2:26.52. Do you really believe those cars are faster than a CGT? Do you really believe the GTR could lap the 'ring or any other circuit as fast as a CGT?
