    I took this picture last month at the porsche museum in Zuffenhausen. It was amazing to see such a rare car up close.

    The car from the museum is not the final 959, it should be the studie-Car "Gruppe B"

    I was in Germany in May of 2006 and took this photo. This car was absolutely not a final 959. It actually looked like a prototype, almost a concept car or mockup. It did have a Gruppe B study placard. Does anyone know the full story behind this car at the museum?

    I guess the headlights should have been my clue. I was so taken with it I didn't see the difference. Reading the display card would have clarified it but I was rushing to get over and see all those 356's. I felt like a kid in a candy store.

    Yes it was indeed. Unfortunately the picture is alittle fuzzy. But the memory in my mind isn't.

    I posted some pictures of the guards red 959 in the boston showroom that i took some months back.

    There was a very interesting thread on pelican posted by wayne the owner of his replacement of a part deep inside the engine compartment.

    It was so similiar to my own experiences working in the close confines of the 928 engine bay. So many of the parts seem shared including the air cleaner.

    They do not have a 964 RS in the old museum in Stuttgart, but I am pretty sure there will have one in the new museum.

    In the Leipzig factory they habe some really nice classic Porsches in the first floor, there is a 964 cup Car in black.

    Last fall there were three 959s awaiting restoration at the Zuffenhausen Classics dept. There was quite a waiting queue of other models, as well. Also included was a bent up 997 GT3RS. I asked what happened? The mgr said, "I don't know, someone got carried away at Weissach, I guess."
