    Why do people insist on calling it a california spider? Seems quite arbitrary that they chose this particular name from Ferrari's history when there has been no official announcement.

    This is not correct. All Ferrari front-engined convertibles in 60-70 were named SpYder.

    What proof is there apart from Google search results or Wikipedia?
    AFAIK Ferrari rarely officially used the term "spider" in the past anyway. Browsing thru the archives on Ferrari's owner's site, I couldn't really find anything with an Y.

    You both need to see the car in the flesh. One cannot judge from pictures. The car does not resemble a Corvette in the slightest.
