Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019)
Those "farts"...I deplore them. Hate them. Stupid. Plain stupid. I love a good sound but not those farts, crackles, whatever you want to call them. My 991.1 Turbo S had farts which sounded as if someone was hiding beneath the car and hitting the undercarriage, worst "farts" experience ever. They improved this slightly with the 991.2 Turbo S but still... My 991.2 GTS Cab has these farts, they sound "bearable" but I could live without them. My R8? Well, if I downshift from let's say over 4000 rpm, they sound extremely loud and clear, very natural (seriously) but they are still annoying as hell in my opinion because it is just...too much. One reason I love driving in Performance mode DRY, no farts. Only in Dynamic mode.
I think you are right, a good sound is a good sound but making the car just loud and adding those dumb ass crackles makes things much worse.
My son, his friends and other kids/adolescents love these "farts" though... I guess car manufacturers should start to understand that they sell their cars to people like us, not necessarily to underage teenagers who worship Shmee, Vehicle Virgins and Co.
