Well since I'm going to be saving money and doing the exhaust install myself (I think), decided to finally get a nice tool box to go with my Sonic tools. Also for something more interesting, plan on documenting taking off the rear bumper (cover) to clean out the air filter next week. Never done that before so seemed like good practice for the exhaust since that's the first step of getting to everything.
This particular toolbox was about 70% off, one small issue you may notice:
Couldn't have that so bought some cheap black vinyl and got to wrapping:
Going
Going
Gone
You may ask why I kept the skull symbol...well it's called "Jake" and since that's my nickname seemed fitting for it to stay on the tool box
lexs4:Gnil:Hope Madame does not complain that she is not getting the latest tools for her kitchen
Unfortunately she is more interested in having the latest items that are wearable
Same here...clothes, shoes, handbags, you name it.

DaveGordon:Good job on the tool cabinet: that’s the kind of thing I would do
I did a partial apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer.. happily now I can afford to add to my Snap-On fetish at little
Nice, wish I had Snap-On, but Sonic is good enough for now.
We had a cars and coffee today so took a couple pics of interesting cars (sorry for my shadow). Click on pics for better resolution.
Several rear engine non-911's, including Ralph Nader's favorite car
His and hers bugs
Nice SLS and my buddy's DB9 convertible w/ a coupe
Some random cars
The one car that revved while pulling in
Heavily modified 987 (GT3 front clip, 981 rear bumper, modified Titanium 997 turbo exhaust, wing supports attached to frame, and much more
And finally, my two favorite cars
Interesting mix of cars, lots of other types there I didn't capture.

DaveGordon:Cool! Some interesting cars there. Love the Corvair
My Beetle has the same carb setup as that yellow one..
That's awesome. The engine bays of the older cars are so much more interesting than those today. Mechanical works of art in many cases. I spent a fair amount of the show talking to the owners of the two beetles. They were beautifully maintained.
They also own a Karmann Ghia which I would have loved to see.
Well winter is upon us here in KY. My GT3 will have a roommate for a couple months. Keeping my buddy's DB9 volante in my garage. Naturally had to wash it for him prior to storing it. Will have an update soon with pics of detailing GT3's rear bumper after removing the Porsche badge and removing bumper to clean air filter. So lots of photos coming soon.
Joost:Nice! But how are you dealing with all those terribly unhygienic leafs in your garage? They might contaminate the cars...
Just kidding of course mate, I know you just enjoy cleaning your cars.
Oh yes those damn leaves. The wind was blowing a constant 30kph yesterday so anytime one of the doors was open the leaves would come rushing in. My buddy had to laugh as I would sweep them out only to turn around and have twice the number come blowing right back in. Mother nature 1 - Obsessed clean freak 0
Gnil:Can I bring my car ? And I agree with Joost, those leaves are totally unacceptable .
The lined up cleaning products are perfect
Disgusting...

Been a while since posting, been putting off clear bra removal, polishing, and exhaust install until February / March on the GT3. Just got sent this pic from my sales guy, my ideal spec and just so happens to be the school colors where my nephew signed to play lacrosse at university next year (purple and yellow)...maybe that's a sign I should get it. What do you all think, worth the extra $$$ to upgrade? Market seems to have softened on them with .2's being released.
lexs4:Disappointed that none of you have tried to talk me out of getting the RS...negotiations continue to go favorably.
You should be thankful.
Great colour choice BTW.

Ok, how about: How dare you thinking about buying this junk ?
On a more serious note and I am definitely the wrong person to go into detail here, the engine is what matters and if I were in your position I would look into the recalls and related stuff to this engine... apart from that, if I had the budget, I would probably go for it ... nice color ...

The .2 is simply a better motor. Makes the .1 less attractive to those who know best. Don’t buy it assuming people will not take that into account when it comes time to sell it. Agreed the RS .1 has a better reputation but it is not th same as the .2 motor which is a gem - so far. Also the 992 coming with n/a motor even hits the price of the .2 since it had been assumed to be the last. Simply factor this into your offer and don’t look back either way.
